Wow! Did you know that your child could use the internet to do harmful things? The internet affects middle school kids in many harmful ways. It can be harmful when kids send inappropriate pictures, become online victims or when parents don’t protect their kids. I don’t believe that this shouldn’t happen to kids. Parents should keep their kids safe! Inappropriate pictures are absolutely nasty. For example, nudity is not appropriate for middle school students. Nude pictures should not be shared with other people at all because they could embarrass the person or ruin that person’s reputation. Parents, check your kid’s phone. If I had a kid, I would check his/her phone every day to make sure that there are no inappropriate pictures. …show more content…
Did you know that one in seventeen kids have been threatened or harassed online during the past year? A sexual predator has approached one in five youths online in the past year. This is because of parents not checking their kid’s phones and computers. Parents, talk to your kids. Ask them how they are doing. Parents, watch for your kids. There are tons of predators looking for kids to attack. Protection of kids has to do with looking after your kids and making sure they are safe when they are online. Parents teach your kids some knowledge about the terrible things that can happen online. Teach your kids about privacy settings on social media and how they should not give their personal information to anyone. Parents, like I said, check your kid’s phone. Establish a positive bond or relationship with your kid. It’s going to make things a lot better. Don’t allow kids to have internet or social media on their phones. The reason I said the internet is harmful is because there are sexual predators and other bad people looking for kids. I want your kid to be safe. Also, I want your kid to have the best future. You don’t want your kid sending or receiving inappropriate pictures or becoming an online victim. You must protect your kid from dangers on the internet. Remember parents, for the last time, check your kid’s
Kids now want to be more independent and have more freedom which might scare some if not most parents. A lot of parents look at the internet as a dangerous tool and not a tool where their kids can have some freedom. Although parents need to realize that they can’t protect their kids from all ...
The internet has enabled our society to accomplish great things that would not have been achieved without the advanced technology available to us today. Everyone knows that there are both pros and cons to the advanced technology available practically worldwide. However, everyday youth are finding new ways to engage in inappropriate behaviors such as cyberbullying and sexual misconduct (sexting) with technology, and most adults are practically blind to this rising problem until it is too late. There are however, many solutions that schools, adults, and parents can do to put a stop to these cyberbullying and sexual misconduct activities occurring online.
Technology has spread like a virus throughout the world. Almost everyone has access to technology. Technology, though it is a blessing has it’s dangers. Harlan Coben writes of parental monitoring. He is in great favor of parents putting spyware on their children’s devices to have access to all the devices information, in and outgoing message, and so forth. The article titled, The Undercover Parent, informs parents of the dangers of the internet and that monitoring is necessary. I agree with Coben, parents should monitor their kids internet use, be it on a phone, computer, and gaming consoles. Many teens do not know of the internet’s dangers that are lurking around corners ready to ensnare them.
All around the world, the internet is being used daily by kids. People in the United Kingdom can experience a complete conversation with a person in Utah with just a click of a button. A housewife can go online and search for an answer to almost any problem she has but she does not think of the dangers. Innocent people have been kidnapped and even killed by being researched through social networks. Anywhere a person is a threat can loom over them. Kids today spend most of their time on social networks, posting their life story on networks such as Instagram and Twitter. They do not see the pain that they can be exposed to; they think no one can hurt them on line. Cyberbullying, one of the newer forms of bullying that occurs through technology, has caused intense consequences for the unsuspecting victims.
“People are very reluctant to talk about their private lives but then you go to the Internet and they’re much more open (Internet Quotes).” Paulo Coelho mentioned this on the topic of meeting strangers online. In a society so dependent on electronic communication, children are only accepted by making online connections. This means they will go to great lengths to have large numbers of people watching them on social media; adults tend to do the same. Children learn by observing our behavior. Acting as if a day without an online connection will ruin our civilization would corrupt the child’s mind, thus making them think the Internet is the most vital object. Of course, there are dangers when one allows a child onto the web. Without proper education on the dangers in the online world, children may fall into a trap and become potential victims. In order to have a well-rounded youth, parents must express healthy role modeling by teaching them how to identify dangerous interactions and carefully monitoring the web history to protect children from online threats.
We are now living in the 20th Century. We have lots of things out in the world that can hurt our children. Parents need to be aware of what is out there. There are many websites that our children can get on and meet new people. My Space is an example. People can get on those sites and set up fake profiles to hurt our children. Parents should be aware of what they are doing, checking on them. Making sure they are not looking or doing things that could harm them. My Space can only do so much before they can't. If its breaking the law they need to turn it over to the police or to the right person.
media that you don't know? In my opinion, I do not think that kids that are younger than 9 should have access to any social media apps. I think It is not safe for young kids to be able to have any social media apps because, they can start talking to random people that the parents don't know. Additionally, kids can be texting some random person who says what they are, can just be lying and can be an adult. Accordingly, in an article that I had read said In 2013,a twelve-year-girl was kidnapped by a 21-year-old man by using a social media app called ¨Whisper¨. This is why I think kids should not have access to any social media apps.
While many adults have and will use the Internet to achieve pornographic nirvana, children need to be kept out of its confines. Censoring can only be taken so far before someone's Constitutional rights are infringed upon. The most practical and effective way to ensure your child's safety is to talk to them about the hazards of the internet and to monitor who and what they interact with while surfing the web.
Cyber bullying and online crime must be put at a stop. Parents and teachers should play a great role in regulating what their kids are doing on social media. Parents give their children smart phones, tablets, and computers but they fail to convey the proper way of using those tools. They should teach them the rules of being on social media by telling them from right to wrong. Parents don’t give their children a car to use without telling them the proper rules of how to drive the car. If they don’t teach them how to drive the car then that child wouldn’t know what to do about his or her car and may lead to an accident. This is the same way of how parents should also teach their kids of how to regulate on social media. There are many privacy settings on these social network sites which some kids are not aware off or simply do not care about. We should put an aware of these settings to them and teach them from right to wrong. Parents and teachers should also encourage their kids to come talk to them if they are facing any type of
Poverty is “the state of one who lacks a usual or socially acceptable amount of money or material possessions” (Merriam-Webster dictionary, 2015); in other words, struggling to provide a comfortable living style. It is the cause of family stress and many other problems, especially for the children. Millions of people around the world are struggling with poverty; families suffering to provide enough food seem to be growing in numbers. According to the United States Census Bureau, the poverty rate was highest in the 1960s and decreased greatly in the 1970s. However, it is now slowly starting to increase again. Recently released census data by the Bureau showed that one in five people are living in poverty (Census Bureau, 2014). Poverty is even
Parents should also talk to their kids about the benefits and risks of Internet and help them to keep safe online. Tell them not to give out their personal information and discuss the danger this can bring them. We have to teach them the right ethics on using this technology as well, because in some cases there are those who use the Internet to harm, to threaten, to deceive and commit crimes. Cyberbullying had caused many lives already therefore, we need to know if our kids are already victims or perpetrators of this crime.
The relationship between children and their interaction with the internet has been on the frontier for parental debate over the past few years. Ever since the internet was accessible to the masses, parents have argued over the perfect balance of exposure. However, In the article “Yes, the internet can make your kids smarter, happier, and kinder,” Jodi Gold argues that the internet can be beneficial to adolescent minds, regardless of how much time they spend in front of a screen. Gold goes against the common stigma of modern day parents, that the internet should stay out of the hands of children, and claims that the world wide web can do more good than bad. Gold provides several notes of discussion that present a handful of ways the internet can
When it comes to having an account online it can get quite dangerous. Not only is it dangerous but having the gadget lying around the house or even having their own at a young age can make it easier for them to have easy access to those social media accounts. Parents need to take precaution with their children and the internet. Meeting someone online is so much more different from meeting them in person. It is hard to tell if people and kids are their real age that they put on their information because you can actually lie about how old you really are. There has been many cases where involving younger girls talking to older men, a 15-year-old can be talking to a
Online education is a booming trend in the education world. It is something different than the traditional classroom. It is allowing student around the world the opportunity to get an education. Online education allows student to have a more proficient and cheaper way of learning. Having multiple ways to give a student an education allows all learning types to find their own way of learning. Education changes lives but it can be difficult for students to get to a classroom to sit through an hour class 4 times a week, this can be for many different reasons. There are many doubts about online education, but this a new world without borders it is a new opportunity for people from all over the world to get an education.
Over 2 billion people use the internet today. In North America, 78.6% of the 300 million people that inhabit it are users online. Some of these users are users are children, ranging from ages of 12-17. Of these children, many simply use the internet to do research, complete homework and even play games. However, a large portion of these children use these tools to threaten, harass, or gang up on other kids. This is what we call cyberbullying. The ease of communication due to a significant online advancement has helped move bullying beyond harassment at school or on the playground and into cyberspace. As a result, schools, authorities, corporate organizations and the third sector need to come together to try and alleviate the ongoing causes of cyberbullying, because it is a problem that greatly affects our children, who are the future of tomorrow.
