The inter-professional practice is a collaborative practice that involves a two-way communication. In the healthcare sector this would be more commonly referred to the allied healthcare professions, it includes every member in the healthcare team with respect to their different roles and responsibilities from nurses to surgeons. It is very important for the healthcare professionals to communicate with one-another in ordered to get the full and best care provided to the patient.
The concept of inter-professional practice is for two or more healthcare members to learn, respect, trust, share decisions and partnership. When every professional is familiar with their duties and other healthcare professional duties it enables an efficient collaboration practice and effective care outcomes. Accordingly, to Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary (2015) communications is “the imparting or interchanging of thoughts, opinions or information by speech, writing or signs”. If the communication chain is broken or there is deficiency it can lead to misunderstanding and errors that can affect the whole team and mostly the patient. In the healthcare setting there are different methods of communications used such as written notes and handovers, telephone/fax, notes boards, emails, verbal, and body languages. My learning experience within inter-professional was very productive. I personally learned about working in collaboration with other professionals. My first impression was the first seminar which took place in the auditorium with a group of students from different professionals in health care sector. The actual seminar was a very good preparation for me and everyone who is in health professionals. The seminar gave me a very understanding of my future practice. The Integrated health care is an approach of interdisciplinary of collaboration and communication among health professionals. The characteristic is unique because of the sharing information which in the team members and related to patient care to establishment of treatment whether biological, psychological, and social needs. The interdisciplinary health care team includes a diverse and variety group of members (e.g., specialist, nurses, psychologists, social workers, and physical therapists), depending on the needs of the patient for the best treatment to the patient care.
