What Is ADHD? Did you know that approximately 6.4 million people are diagnosed with ADHD world wide. Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is a disease that affects the mental health of younger people mostly between the ages of 4-17 year olds. Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is a condition that's characterized by impulsive behavior, inattention, and hyperactivity. Kids with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder have trouble with concentrating in school. They can have many behavioral issues. Most kids that are diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder are treated with medication. They can also live a normal life just they have a few minor set back. They will most likely be put on medication. But are some of the medication that they are putting kids on to help them. Are they really helping them. Some of the most common medication include vyvanse; lisdexamfetamine dimesylate. Adderall; amphetamine, Ritalin; methylphenidate, dexmethylphenidate these are all stimulants. Stimulants are the most commonly prescribed drugs for ADHD. They've been used for more than 50 years.. A few different types of medication can be prescribed, depending on a person's exact symptoms. In addition to medication, people with ADHD may benefit from counseling to improve their behavior or social skills. Since I was diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder when I was about eight years old. I have went to a counselor since I was about nine years old. Then for a while I was able to control my anger outburst. And stopped going to counseling but then about three years ago when I lost my great grandpa I feel into a really deep hole and was depressed all the time for about two or three months after he had passed away. Because ADHD affects a child's ability to learn and get along with others, some people think an ADHD child's behavior is caused by a lack of discipline, a chaotic family life, or even too much TV. But in fact ADHD is largely a genetic disorder. Some of the things that people think that causes a genetic error is an old house that has older fixtures that are made of lead and lead paint. But now days that is not so significant because people with ADHD now days have less exposure to lead.
Another factor that is thought to be another cause of ADHD. Is smoking and drinking while the mother is pregnant. That can lead to a number a serious health risks. Another theory is fluoride in the tap water. This is thought because many different people think that adding fluoride into the water is not a good thing.
It is also thought that sugar or sugar substitutes could be a leading factor to kids having hyperactivity. The tests that they have done to try to prove this theory have shown that sugar and sugar substitutes have had no effect on children with ADHD. but some parents still do not let their kid have any kind of
