What do you normally think when you hear Comic-con? Nerds with huge pimples, glasses that have been repaired one to many times, and the stained crusty shirt from the Cheetos that he had 2 days ago. All of them just sitting down and talking about the latest comic books that had just come out and others might be playing lasted edition of Dungeons and Dragons right. Well maybe that was the case about 10 years ago but that has all changed. This event has blown up so much that they have multiple events throughout the year, and are not just limited to just a small basement, the have multiple buildings just to make sure that they have room for all the people that will be attending. From about 400 people to 75,000. Everyone wants to see what’s there and what makes it so fun. I have been going to this particular event every year for the past 5 years. Each time I attend there are new people, classes, and cosplays. Once I was walking around and saw someone that was rather skinny and he had a long light blue lab coat with a bright colored bow. The person standing adjacent to him was wearing a blazing red hand woven sweater …show more content…
You can also venture in to the rooms they have set up. On one side you can learn about beloved story writer Hayao Miyazaki, the creator of Ponyo, Howls Moving Castle, and my Neighbor Totoro, and why he always has a strong female as his lead characters. Then after that you can soar on over to fly into outer space on the Stars Wars Flight Simulator and have a real life dog fight Then you can continue the fun outside were they have performances by real life Jedi and Sith in intense battles. You can even join forces with the dark side, once you get what’s needed for that group, they even spend time in the community helping others on their own time and are having a blast while doing
April 17th at 7 p.m., Pasadena City College held the Fourth Annual Drag Show in Harbeson Hall. About fifteen people from the campus dressed in drag and were ready to sashay up and down the catwalk. The performers did lip-synching performances and runway shows as with other drag shows. Finger food, music, and a roomful of excited people ensured a joyful event. However, I wondered if people were actually excited because of the same reason. While I peering slowly around the crowded hall, I noticed that people of various backgrounds were intermingling. There was no way people have different social and cultural identities and perceive the drag show in the same way, but ironically all of them looked delighted. Therefore, I figured that there was more than one way to interpret the meaning of the drag show and people were attracted to the event by those different reasons. The reason people thought the Annual Drag Show was entertaining was not only because the performance was interesting, but also because it provided an opportunity to explore new things that is distinct from their day’s work, ordinary life, or their personal values.
I was able to attend a fair on September 15 at the city of Bell Gardens. The fair was created to celebrate the Mexican Independence Day, which in Spanish is called Dia de la Independencia de Mexico. On September 15, they celebrate El Grito de Mexico. This event is celebrated every year, to remind people about the day they gain their independence, which brings many individuals to do the Grito de Dolores. In this case, the mayor of the city along with her colleagues and the escoltas were present. Not only was the Mexico flag present, but also the United States flag. At first, they mayor of the city told all the individuals to stand up and remove their hats for the respect of the flags. They started with the United States national anthem, which the escolta was walking with the United States flag, while the people were told to put their right hand over there heart and then they song along with the
Washington our nation’s capital, became the home of the Washington’s Puyallup state fair, in June 1900, when a group of local businessmen, farmers and residents joined together to discuss the idea of a fair in the Puyallup Valley area. 1According to the fair.com/about-us/history/, a board of directors were formed as the governing body of the "Valley Fair", decided the purpose of the Valley Fair Association was to advance the interests of agricultural, horticultural, dairying, stock raising, mining, and manufacturing industries of the Puyallup Valley. 2 Selling shares of stock provided the capital to begin the, Puyallup Fair, it was located on a vacant lot; the dates of the first Fair were October 4-6, 1900. 3 At the time, admission to the first annual "Valley Fair" was $1 per family for all three days. Today admission prices are $12.50 for adults; $9.00 for anyone 62+, for ages 6-18 and it is free for children 5 years or younger.4 Surrounding the fair, was a 10-foot fence which acted as the first main gate. Sheds were built to house exhibits etc. with the left-over wood from building the fence.5 Inside the fair a tent was raised to protect produce, "ladies work," and livestock, horses as well as cows were tethered to a nearby fence.5 At the Fair, the most popular entertainment was horse racing, therefore the fair was built around a race track which was used from 1901-1977. 6 Parking lots were established in 1902, with the invention of the automobile, and people were travelling from all over to come to the Fair.7 At the time parking a buggy or automobile cost only 25 cent, today official fair parking s is $10 on weekdays and $12 on weekends.8 Also today during the Puyallup Fair a number of locals also provide private parking areas...
When carnival was created it was a day for the peasants to have freedom to do what they wanted to the kings and the hierarchy above them, but my question is why did the kings take it to heart? If what the Kings do to the peasants on a daily basis is not accepted when it is done to them on the day of carnival, then why do it at all?
Come here rude boy, boy, can you get it up? Come here rude boy, boy, is you big enough? These are the lyrics that we can find ourselves mindlessly singing to on our way to work. Pop star Robyn Rihanna Fenty, the co-producer of this song, made history at this year’s American Music Awards when she was awarded the first-ever Icon Award, which according to the show’s producer, Larry Klein, was created to honor an artist whose body of work made a profound influence on popular music at a global level. Needless to say, Rihanna’s iconic fashion taste and innovative sound has enabled her to become one of the most influential and best-selling artists of all time. Rihanna however, is not the only woman making history in the music industry; Beyoncé Knowles, Jennifer Lopez, and Katy Perry, just to name a few, are also very empowering women in the industry. Female pop-culture artists, alongside many male rappers in the industry, contribute tremendously in influencing American culture. Their immense contributions to the American culture are engraved in their catchy, explicit music lyri...

Memories are among the most precious things a person can accumulate. While making a large sums of money can lead a person to be disliked or mistrusted by their peers, obtaining good memories serves only to enhance one’s standing among one’s peers. My favorite memory is of the 2008 Mid-season Classic wrestling tournament at Clarion High School because my wrestling team took first place at that tournament, we were able to beat the team that was ranked #1 in the district, and one of my wrestlers left me with an unforgettably great moment.
Two years ago, I was in the Bowie wrestling team at Bowie High School. It was the end of the day and I head to the gym for practice. This day was the last practice for the Bowie Tournament, where wrestlers from different high schools of El Paso and Las Cruces come to our school to wrestle, place, and have maybe have a chance in State, which takes up to two or three days. I was so hype and honor to wrestle in this tournament, so I will practice hard as I can for this tournament.
Many argue that culture, along with the norms and traditions of humans of all different backgrounds is one the most important aspect of our species. Some take this belief to an entire new level. In the article titled “Once Upon a Time, Literature. Now What?”, by James Salter, argues that literature 's importance in modern day society is dying because pop culture is overtaking it. Salter begins his article by writing about the importance of language, claiming that “is the requisite for the human condition.” Salter then goes on to talk about the ongoing death of literature, arguing that pop culture, such as “Star Wars”, is more popular over masterpiece literature topics. Overall, Salter does not write an effective argument because of his problems
I have a friend who is involved with the group that I observed. My friend became interested in cosplay after attending Comic Con – San Diego a few years ago. The group that he is part of meets once a month at one of the group members’ houses, some of the meetings have a certain theme which require the members to come in costume, this particular meeting was a sewing party. There were ten people at the meetup and they ranged in age from nineteen to thirty-five. As I observed the members arriving the first thing that I noticed was how enthusiastic everyone was and how happy they were to be there. Once the majority of the members had arrived they started talking about upcoming events that they needed to have customs ready for. The main event that they focused on was Comic Con – San Diego as it is only a few months way. They shared what costumes they were current working on and talked about the ways in which they could help each other with costumes. Everyone seemed very willing to lend assistance in any way that they could. They were eager to share their skills, such as design, sewing and make-up, with each other. From listening to the members talk about their costumes it the reason that they put so much thought into their costumes began to become clear, it is because capturing the likeness of the character they are portraying in of great importance. As I
In the lobby they see many people standing around or buying T-shirts, hats, and other paraphanaliea of their favorite wrestling superstar. There is a smell of popcorn and other snacks in the air. It is very noisy from people talking about who they hope is there.
I am going into event planning, in the sector of the hospitality industry. Event planning industry is on the rise and is not glued to one specific genre, hence, there are several to choose from. Event planning is needed for all sorts of occasions such as, birthday parties, weddings, fundraisers, product launches, concerts, anniversaries, fashion shows, conferences, graduations, business meetings, and much more! It is an industry that will never stop growing and improving. Specifically, an event planner job includes working with clients, creating a positive self-image, networking with clients, and personal and financial gain.
There is an event that I just can describe as one of the most unique and memorable in my life: attending my first concert. After years of listening to Ron Pope’s music, watching his YouTube channel, and following all of his social media accounts, the satisfaction of seeing someone whose music has been the soundtrack to my life for so long was unreal. There were moments that I had to internally remind myself that this is, in fact, happening in real life. Being a dedicated (some may say eccentrically so) fan is tough work – and I was rewarded with two hours of pure magic for one night. Attending my first concert was a unique event that I will always remember fondly because of the atmosphere, the amazing performance and the sense of connection
