We are what we know and what we have done. It states where we are right now, and will determine how far we get to stand in a future. Education tells parts of our story, our interests, what we want out of life, but what is the best way to learn what we are taught?Books are needed in the acquisition of knowledge but books alone aren’t the only source we can learn from. Experiences are where we get to learn the most, because we get to apply this knowledge, develop skills from it, realize what our doubts and mistakes are, and in a future get to make it useful for our lives.

When speaking of education the first thing that comes to our minds are books, instead of thinking where did all these books come from, we only think about the knowledge they give. Each and every book known started from a life experience, an inspiration that leaded to a question. This was resumed to a thought that would be later on transformed into a book. It is obvious that what it is learned from them is the base of our knowledge, the theoretical part of everything. Books are necessary, but the information they have isn’t enough. We need much more that what books can offer. We need to live the knowledge books give us.

Information that is found in books like numbers, formulas, scientific names, and the Greek alphabet isn’t useful on its own. Each of these examples needs an application to make a thought and learn from it. Even though learning can be accomplish by memorizing and reading from books, it will only constitute the basic part of what education is about. The thinking and the application of all this knowledge into experiences of our daily lives is what we will need later on; that is why we are studying in the first place. Most careers need theory and books; however, a career leads to a job where books used at all for guidance, where all that is needed is your previous experiences based on the knowledge. A perfect example would be when someone is studying in med school. Doctors need to have all this knowledge about the body, but what they mostly need is experience, the practice to make operations without any book around. What is inside books is not enough for them, without the experiences.

When someone apply in life the knowledge he had learned from books, he can ultimately develop skills, both physical and intellectual.
