Taking care of our health is an essential portion of our life. In modern world, our healthcare system promotes and expects us as an individual to actively participate in our own health care, actively participate in decision-making, manage chronic conditions, follow up with medical care. Health literacy supports empowerment to take control of our own health. It involves not only the transmission of health information, but means to acquire the knowledge, abilities and needed skills to ensure on that knowledge to maintain health. Patient education that includes self-directing care and empowerment has showed thru the studies to be cost-effective.

Healthy People 2020 is geared towards betterment of health for the most citizens by year 2020.It is a carefully and exhaustively planned project by the different sectors of government and health agencies with the inclusion of the analyses of the determinants of health, and disparities, using different kind of public health models in order to make appropriate policies and programs that are feasible to implement and practical to abide for the benefit of the population served. Objectives & Brief Content Outline: With the knowledge that overall health cannot be substantially improved and disparities reduced without addressing the social determinants of health, this paper aims to (1) Define Healthy People 2020 and identify the social determinants
Healthy People 2020 is a program developed by the government that was launched November 2010. It was designed to improve peoples’ health nationwide, over the course of the next ten years. The three main goals of Healthy People 2020 are: for Americans to lead healthier lives, eliminate healthcare disparities, and to provide preventative health services to everybody. To successfully live healthier lives, individuals should be aware of personal existing diseases/illnesses, and treat health issues appropriately by medication, frequent lab work, and follow up appointments with doctors. It is important that individuals with existing illnesses prevent further damage manage their current health status.
Healthy People Healthy People analysis are science-based goals that are observed to take place over a 10-year period. These goals are set to improve the health of the American people. Healthy People aims to monitor and advance to “encourage collaborations across communities and sectors, empower individuals toward making informed health decisions, and measure the impact of prevention activities” (Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, 2014). The vision of Healthy people is to help society live longer and healthier lives. Healthy People 2020 Healthy people 2020 was written, documented, and launch on December 2, 2010.
Quality Improvement Organizations and Healthcare Consumers Our nation’s healthcare system requires constant monitoring for quality and innovations and guidelines for increasing the quality of care. This process is difficult and complex and requires many separate organizations with differing approaches and objectives in order to be effective. Fortunately, there are many such organizations that strive to continuously increase the health care standards and practices in our nation. They also assist the consumer in making educated decisions on which medical facilities will best suit their needs. Reviewing a few of these quality improvement organizations and the roles they play will increase our understanding of their roles within our nation’s healthcare system.
