Design is crucial to any webpage you create. Without effective design, it doesn’t matter how good your logic is or how many different things you can do with it. The user does not care whether or not you put your life into that webpage. If it doesn’t do what they want and make it easy to do, the user will find another that meets their needs or desires. As superficial as it may seem, a user cares most about what’s on the surface of your webpage. Maybe your webpage is faster or does things smarter than somebody else’s, but if their design is better, people are going to prefer theirs over yours. A good design is comprised of many different elements. A key aspect of which is color choice. However, even more important than color when making a successful webpage is the user’s patience.

However, designers have a bigger goal than to just make pretty artwork for the public to see. The work that a graphic designer does is usually synonymous with propaganda. It is their job to try to make people feel a certain way about an object or topic (Horton). The idea is to put together colors, words, and pictures to represent an idea that can be recognized and remembered by the public easily. (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics). The designer must also be very flexible and willing to take criticism, because when it comes down to it, their design must be what the client wants. Doing research is very important in this field because it must be understood what the goal is and how the client wants their idea portrayed to the public. Nevertheless, this occupation poses a fantastic opportunity to show creativity and originality and that is able to be seen more clearly through the free-lance designer.

Designers consider the fonts, images, colors, and layouts to make sure that none of the items clash in a bad way. One must do all of this while also making sure not to intrude on any copyright laws. If a designer were to break a copyright law, he or she could be fined and sued for a very large sum of money. A designer could use pictures from public domain or even take pictures for themselves
