Mental Health effects of incurable Sexually Transmitted Diseases
Mental Health is always a factor when someone is faced with a diagnosis of an incurable disease. According to Samkange-Zeeb (2011) it is a natural response to become emotional when an individual is told bad news from a health care professional and it is normal to have days where the infected individual will be irritable, angry, and depressed. When someone is diagnosed with HIV or AIDS depending upon the stage of the disease the infected individual must make adjustments to their aspirations, lifestyle, social life and employment.
Mental Health patients who are diagnosed with an incurable sexually transmitted disease are affected differently. According to Samange-Zeeb (2011) there is a delay in diagnosis for patients who suffers with mental illnesses because the patient may fail to communication their symptoms. Also it is common for mentally ill patients to decline treatment which can result in an ethical issue.
