Many people often consider surrendering in the face of failure instead of success. However, failure can be observed as a step to success and is often hard to overcome emotionally and socially. Success is a challenge and is frequently superseded by failure as a result. Examining the history of the literary world, several individuals such as J.K. Rowling, Stephen King, and Emily Dickinson experienced many hardships that eventually established the foundations of literature today.
World-acclaimed bestselling series, Harry Potter, was written by a brilliant author and humanitarian known as J.K. Rowling. Though some may speculate that she is extraordinarily intelligent and probably have never faced failure, Rowling had experienced distress throughout the middle of her life. She had previously just divorced from what one may call a considerably short marriage and was left to survive with her daughter with minimum sources of money, undergoing severe poverty throughout the middle of her life. She also suffered the death of her mother, leading to a long period of depression. At this point, one can conceive that this was her rock bottom, where she contributed exhausting amounts of energy that finally succumbed to failure. In spite of that, J.K. Rowling composed the first Harry Potter book on a typewriter and decided to submit a rough manuscript for the sake of her and her daughter’s lives. It was immediately sent back to her the same day they were sent. However, this did not deter her. A second attempt led to an editor wanting to see the rest of the manuscript; the response was only two sentences long. ...or these authors. Rowling experienced defeat everywhere she looked but concluded that she had nothing to lose, fueling her fire to distribute her manuscripts. While resorting to drugs and alcohol abuse may have impaired him, King still persevered and released at least thirty novels in his time. Dickinson’s extraordinary poignant voice in her poetry has influenced 20th century writing as a whole, showing that success can be achieved even if you aren’t as popular with the crowd. Our appreciation for these talented people stems from the failures they endured in the past and how they honed in on those errors, utilizing them to make their resolve greater. These are gifted individuals who experienced defeat when failure cannot be conquered; however, success ultimately can be achieved through endless endeavors by transforming the failed efforts and frustration into triumph.
