As nurses we all been made aware of all the nursing organization that is readily available to us while attending school. Organizations such as the American Nurse Association (ANA), the Ohio Nurses Association (ONA) and the National Student Nursing Association (NSNA) were a few of the organization offered during and at the completion of school. Each group is providing a different insight into nursing excellence and nursing practices, yet, some of the crucial aspects of each group are to challenge all nurses to exceed in their practices and obtain the idea of nursing excellence through expanding their professional development. While each organization contributes to nursing research and education in meeting the goals of nurse excellence, the NLN purpose is to promote nursing education and to build nurses who are energetic and diverse so that they can advance the healthcare both nationally and globally. (National League of Nursing [NLN], n.d). The impact the NLN has on nursing practices, education and research are phenomenal. The NLN help promote evidence-based nursing through fostering research and by encouraging nurses to participate in hospitals committees that help in promoting changes in nursing protocol/practices. Along with setting priorities for nursing education and supports nursing research, the NLN assist nurses in enhancing health promotion and disease prevention and help in developing the next generation of nurse researchers. Thus, nurses who also join the NLN can get updates on the newest research on nursing practices, help in professional development, information on policy and help with networking for jobs and research. Ensuring equity of health along with implementing preparedness and surveillance to prevent and control diseases from spreading within the nation(World Health Organization [WHO], n.d). WHO’s impact on nursing practices are hindered for several reasons such as cultural differences, by the legislature and by regulatory problems, each which block the nurses to practice in different countries and more importantly to practice without any barriers which would enable them from practicing with their full potential. In addition, the WHO has been supporting the plans to increase the education of nurses throughout the world so that they can be employed globally. The organization also participate in developing nurse leaders so that they can participate in policy changes along with instilling in nurses the importance of evidence-based research so that they can help in changing policy and producing new nursing policy (WHO, n.d). The nurse excellence provided by theWHO is political activism because they are trying to promote political and environmental and economic reform to help the people in need in third world countries. Both organizations are helpful to nurses and the pursuit of education, research, and enhancing both nursing practices and changing the health outcome of patients, notwithstanding I, myself do not belong to any nursing organization at this time.
