Water conservation is a serious issue around the country. Especially places like California, where it seems like they are in a drought every year. Everyone and everything needs water to survive. People are careless when it comes to conserving water, but little do they know that conserving water can make the world a better place. The world does not make itself clean, it is our job to do so. There are a number of different ways to save water that are quick and simple, and we should all apply them to our daily lives and homes.
First of all, society does not understand the resources they have. I say this because “over 400 billion gallons of water is used a day in the United States, only 3% of Earth’s water is freshwater (and) 97% of it is salt water” (US EPA, 2013). America earned a D- in drinking water in 2009 according to the report card for America's Infrastructure, and since then it has only rose to a D+ (2013 Report Card for America's Infrastructure, 2014).
