Jack lost his job as a banker during the financial crisis of 2008. The lost of his six figure salary job strained his financial condition and his heavily mortgaged house. Soon after, he declared bankruptcy and could not afford a place to reside. All his efforts to receive support from his friends during the heyday were fruitless which made him realize the value of the relationships formed during the prosperous times. Unexpectedly he receives support from his parents who were going through their own financial struggle. As seen in The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot and To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, family members guide each other, even through tough times
As shown by the Finches, family members guide and care for each other even during the difficult times.
