As we close to the end of the nursing program, we excited to be able to work in the real world. However, the transition from school to the workplace is a big step. It doesn’t matter where we are going to work. We need to practice professionalism. But what is professionalism in the workplace? Professionalism is a broad and unclear term. According to Collier, professionalism is “in its essence, is an attitude whereby you assume a particular role,” (Collier, 2012). In the other word, professionalism is the ways one person communicate with others in the workplace environment. Many ways to show people how to be professional in the nursing field. What is time management? It is the method to use them efficiently and knowing what needs to prioritize in making a decision. Also, Said stresses that “time management skills are essential for success in nursing.” (Said, 2014). Nurses have a ton of works every day to take care of patients, document patient’s chart, communicate with physician and coworkers, and dealing with the family members. Without an excellent time management skills, the nurses are not able to finish up for the shift and still have the positive attitude. On the other hand, no one like a nurse who keeps coming late for shift change and reports. The nurse from previous shift wants to go home too. To practice an excellent time management skills, the nurse needs to make a checklist on which things need to prioritize tasks to do, making ahead a schedule too easy to follow, and update the plan if something happened without making …show more content…
