In life the more we understand a certain topic the better prepared we will be to handle it when it comes our way. It doesn’t matter if it is Math or Philosophy the knowledge we acquire through education about subjects will be used to our advantage. Knowing and understanding philosophy is because it gives us an upper hand when it comes to life. In Plato’s Allegory of the Cave he depicts a world in which people who lack knowledge are trapped inside a cave where all they know is what they can see through the shadows that creep into the caves. What Plato meant in Allegory of the Cave is that a person who was uneducated was trapped by society only believing what society told him was true. It Is important to know and understands fallacies because they prevent the media form brain washing you, so if you know what they are then you are better prepared to not fall in trap that the media has set to capture the minds of those who don’t know any better. For example, if a Politian is trying to make a case for restricting gun control, and he brings up a case where in Australia there is no restriction on guns and violence has gone done. You will know that it is not a sound argument because it is illogical to think that just because something is true in one country doesn’t it will be true in another country. So just because crime went down in Australia then crime will go down in the United States; they are two completely different countries with very little in common. Trying to prove that it’s a logical argument is like trying to argue that birds and fish are related. Knowing what’s an augment bad is just as important as knowing what makes an augment good because you will know wheatear another person is attempting to trick through
