Recommended: The Causes and Effects of Eating Junk Food
In general, I try to live a healthy lifestyle by eating nutrient-filled foods and exercising a couple days a week. A couple years ago noticed that I was putting on some weight. Not a lot, but enough to make me uncomfortable. I took a good look at my lifestyle and I found it to be filled with lots of processed take out foods and foods that didn’t contain any nutrient value whatsoever like soda. I felt sluggish, weak and not confident. It was then that I decided to take a hold of my life and start forming a healthy lifestyle now, before it became too out of hand. My first step was to cut out the junk food I was always eating and start filling up my plate with vegetables and lean meat. Since I was not overweight, I did not restrict any calories. I only switched …show more content…
And you know what? I immediately felt the results. I was no longer constantly tired, and instead found myself to be able to concentrate better in school. During this time I added an exercise regime into my schedule. Again, I fell in love with the benefits instantly. I found that my energy levels had soared and I was even beginning to see the start of a toned body. The more I did it, the better I felt. At this point, I could care less about all the soda, French fries and pizza that used to consume my diet. This is how I try to live my life. As I continued though my new healthy lifestyle, I became curious about the benefits of certain foods and ways to create a long and healthy life. This introduced me to the world of cooking. I was fascinated by how different foods could help prevent cancer or promote bone strength. From then on, my diet has been enriched with super foods like spinach, blueberries and mushrooms. The crazy part is that before I started cooking I hated all of those foods! It wasn’t until I wanted to try experimenting with different foods and flavors that I ever considered eating something like a
...e completely healthy attempting to avoid my punishment and then there were days where I ultimately caved and failed at eating well. On those days, I followed the rules I set in place and worked out as I said I would that evening. Part of the time my boyfriend would inevitably cause me to falter by cooking a nice fattening meal, but I don’t blame him at all considering it was up to me to make the decision to refrain from eating it. I probably didn’t do as well as I could have around lunch time or dinner but I’m glad at the fact that I did keep away from sweets and snacks throughout the entire week. I was really intrigued with getting good results for this project so I tried my hardest to actually follow the program set. Even if I don’t keep with this change after the project it’s very comforting to know I CAN eat healthy when I want and I CAN workout if I need too.
The purpose of writing this paper is to discuss the pros and cons of my diet. The nutritional analysis have thought me that my choices are not terrible but they are not the beast. However, a healthy lifestyle is necessary if I want to enjoy this life without health complications. Always Including some form of vegetable, fruits, and carbohydrates in my diet is ideal. However, that may not be on a regular basis and the portion might be too small to make a difference or too much to cause harm. I have learned how many grams of fat, saturated fat and protein should be consumed per day by my body.
For years, I have been eating what I want. Food choices are a significant factor that affects our health. What we like or crave, often, is the determining variable in what we eat. Finding the right balance of food choices is the key factor in improving our health benefits. Choosing nutrient-dense foods will provide more nutritional value than foods that are found to be low in nutrient density. Making the right choices in foods, however, is extremely difficult. Often, I find myself enthralled in the latest fad, not considering the subtext of the foods I am eating, such as nutrients, vitamins, healthy fats and unhealthy fats, cholesterol and minerals. The diet project underlined a three-day food entry intake that provided a dietary analysis report
The healthier you start to eat on a regular basis the easier it is to pick fruits and vegetables over processed snacks and sugary goods. It takes about twenty one days to make or break a habit, so if you stick to your diet it becomes a routine to eat the right foods your body needs. Once you make this your daily routine you will start to feel better about yourself in many ways. You will have more energy, a better immune system and you will even notice yourself losing weight. It makes you feel better both physically and mentally. There are many diets out there to help you get on the right track with nutrition. The paleo diet and the volumetric food plan is just two of the many
Diet is possibly one of the hardest things for people, including myself, to control. Every corner you turn while driving down the street has a different fast food restaurant to tempt you. Even if you avoid the temptation and make it to the store, then every corner you turn offers a new food that is filled with sodium and unnatural materials. My current diet is pretty much opposite of most recommendations. The few things that I normally would fall in line with, in terms of a healthy diet, are eating lean meats, poultry, and eggs along with low-fat/fat-free milk products. I lack many fruits, vegetables, and low sodium foods in my diet. Ellis (p. 322) states, “How you eat can matter more than what you eat. If you want to eat less, then eat slowly. Savor each bite. Stop when you’re satisfied instead of when you feel full.” These are strong words that stand out to me because every day it seems like I eat more than I should and I eat it fast. With that being said, my action plan will be to incorporate the beneficial items I am ...
The nutrition table assignment allowed me to see this. After learning so, I started incorporating more different foods into my diet. I increased the amount of milk I drank daily. I added more whole grains into my diet such as corn and barley. I also increased the amount of fruits I ate such as cherries, blueberries, and pomegranates. Instead of worrying over carbohydrates, I focused on trying to meet every single food group’s serving level. Heath-wise, I have not noticed a significant change. However, I have been feeling more
One of the reason’s why I felt my nutrition needed to changes is because nutrition is a huge part of a healthy lifestyle, the way that we eat and what foods we consume can have a huge impact on our everyday lives. Nutrition plays a huge role in multiple facets of a person’s life energy, health, skin, weight, confidence, and more making having a good control on your eating habits extremely important. How we eat over the years and what foods we routinely choose to eat can eventually have a lasting effect on use and what we consider to be most appealing and appetizing at any given moment. Having these craving and routine habits makes eating, diet, and nutrition both a behavior and a lifestyle choice that can be changed over time with help from the theories learned in this class.
Based on a variety of personal experiences, I became very interested in the role of foods and nutrition. During my last year of highschool, my favorite who had a successful business succumbed to a strange alliment. He was tired all the time and was diagnosed to live only 1 year. While he didn't have cancer, his bloodwork had many abnormalites the doctors couldn't diagnose. He began to seek out other doctors who ultimately recommended that his see a dietitian. This changed his life. He started to eat low fat foods thats packed in vitamins, quit smoking and drinking and started to exercise regular bases. One year later, he could get out of bed, live as an full energetic person as he had before. This made him inspired to study nutrition in America. I was overwhelmed after I knew his history and never looked at food the same way again. It is clear to me now that how people eat and what people eat is an important factor in acheving optimum health, that just exercise isn't enough.

A healthy lifestyle is usually picked up as we get older. However, think of how much more beneficial it would be for our bodies when we get older, if we would have learned and adapted to a healthier lifestyle when we were younger? Teaching your kids how important a healthy diet is, will help them maintain that lifestyle in their older years. Not to mention have lower health risks, higher self-esteem and it will give them the energy they need to keep up with their eating habits and maintain their body weight.
Living a healthy life style is challenging and stressful but it shouldn't be that way. Starting off slow and allowing your body to get accustomed to such changes will help you enjoy yourself more with these new changes. Changing one dish you eat to something healthy is a great start. Keeping yourself happy while putting healthy foods into your body or exercising will further your success. I’ve come to realize that your outlook on things will effect how much effort you put into it. Keeping yourself active and motivated is crucial to such a change. Making schedules or goals for yourself weekly and trying to fulfill those goals will help you accomplish more. If you manage to fulfill each of those goals, allow yourself one of you're favorite cheat foods. Keeping healthy is all about working with what you know and how willing you are to keep going and challenging yourself to new
Moreover, I learned that effecting even the smallest change in my lifestyle can be extremely difficult at first since breaking a habit is the first, but often the most challenging step. With this change did come certain repercussions, as well as benefits to my health. In the beginning, I drank less coffee in the morning in order to drink more water, this caused mild headaches for the first few weeks of the change, however, now that I do drink more water in place of other less-hydrating drinks, I have seen a steady decrease in the amount of headaches I drink. I even hope to return to my physician this summer and inquire whether I can be taken off my headache prevention medication. This realization has been the most exciting and rewarding aspect of this
Exercise and eating healthy are two of the most important things you need to do to take care of your body properly. Both exercise, and eating healthy, have many advantages and benefits. They help with multiple things needed throughout your life. These things include growing physically, mentally, and if you are religious, spiritually as well. All of this adds up to your body functioning in the highest and best way possible.
The first strategy that I can use in order to limit the amount of trans fats, processed sugar, and cheese that I eat is to cut back the less nutritious foods that are found around my apartment. Now, throwing out every item of unhealthy food isn’t the way to go because, lets face it, we all need to splurge sometimes. On the contrary, I can cut my options back. By doing this, it will help to limit the temptations that I have in my everyday life. Another strategy that I can use is to control my portion sizes. My version of portioning has always been the method of putting more of the things that taste better and less of the things that don’t taste as good on my plate. I need to start balancing out my plate by their nutritious values instead of their “yummy” value. Don’t get me wrong, nutritious foods are yummy too, but they aren’t the same type of yummy. Planning what I am going to eat ahead of time is another way to stick to my goal. This will make it easier to stick to a more nutritious diet. There are so many new substitutions in cooking now. Trying new things has never been one of my strong suits, in fact, it kind of scares me, but by broadening my options and trying these substitutions it will create a healthier way to enjoy some of my favorite foods. The options to eating healthier are endless, but these are just a few of the possible strategies that I may use in order to complete to my goal and
