Integrity, what is integrity? How can the lack of integrity be harmful in your journey as a student, a human being, and as a future social worker? In this paper I will discuss the importance of integrity in the social work profession, how it can harm the client and people in your work environment, the three forms of integrity are morals, intellectual and philosophical and how they can affect your life. Mark Twain once said, “ If you tell the truth you don’t have to remember anything (1894)” as a human being integrity plays a major role in your character, morals, intellectuals and philosophical concept of how you treat individuals around you. Integrity is “The quality of being honest and having strong moral principles (Code of Ethics, n.d)” if you are honest in your profession you wouldn’t have to remember the lie you told yesterday to get your through another day. Integrity plays a major role in your relationship, school, work, and home. Morals Integrity is when a person acknowledges that they have the determination and understanding to live a good moral life. Morals are defined as the principles of right and wrong behavior, the goodness or badness of human character, and the quality of being honest (Cox, Damian, La Caze, Marguerite, Levine, & Michael, 2013). Having morals in the workplace can show an individual your personality and would get you a long way in today’s society. You always heard the saying “Do to others as you would have them do to you”.
