Healthy lifestyle is a broad term. It has many components, which includes but are not limited to eating right, sexual health, maintaining healthy body weight, not smoking, low alcohol intake, and regular exercise to maintain fitness. A healthy lifestyle reflects an individual’s commitment towards a healthy life and therefore increases the likelihood of building a healthier society and increasing society’s productivity.
Recent studies show that following a healthy lifestyle confers the largest benefit to health, more than any medical treatment or preventive medicine. Surprisingly, adopting a healthy lifestyle aids in the management of certain diseases which have a clear genetic predisposition, such as diabetes. It infuses hope in terms of treatment and prevention of disease with genetic predisposition, while endorsing the extreme importance of lifestyle.
Components of healthy lifestyle:
The following five components of healthy lifestyle are most studied and found to improve health outcome in general. Interestingly, a recent study has found two-third reduction in risk of developing dementia. Moreover lifestyle modifications may reduce the risk of developing cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and stroke (1).
1. Regular exercise:
Industrialization and the informative age have resulted in a decrease in the need of physical activity. Therefore our average caloric requirement also decreased accordingly. It should be counterbalanced by either decreasing food intake or increasing exercise to burn out extra calories. Unfortunately we overlooked that important fact and ended up in sedentary lifestyle. Sadly it is recognized that only very few people follow a healthy lifestyle. Out of many issues related to healthy lifestyle, controlling obesity is extremely important and is a major health priority this time. There are many ways to achieve our target of building a healthier society by adopting a healthy lifestyle. We need broad social realignments nationwide. We must also take individual responsibility for exercise, diet, drink responsibly, and avoid smoking and maintaining sexual health (4). Moreover, due attention should be given to primary prevention, (controlling disease before it happens), by creating awareness among adults and children. Addressing healthy lifestyle should be a part of comprehensive health care. Any concern should be detected early and should be addressed as a serious health issue.
Therefore, people should take direction and control the quantity of fat intake by reading labels in foods. Also, they should enrich the diet with vegetables, fruits, fish, nuts, whole grains, lean meat, and low fat dairy to provide their bodies with the required health fats. To improve the overall wellness, they should avoid boredom, frustration, stress, and sedentary lifestyles by increasing the activity level. Taking simple things like walking instead of driving or using stairs instead of elevators can increase weight loss and overall wellness. So from doing all those things person can have healthy lifestyles without having any serious issues in life.

For this paper I decided to take a second and evaluate my life and think about what were some of my current lifestyle habits and behaviors and which out of these habits would I like to change.
