Why is exercise important? How does it affect your health? There are so many people in this world who have questions regarding their health and how exercise can help. I want to explain to people why exercise is so important and why people should take care of their body. I also want to explain how much exercise is important for athletes. Exercise could prevent heart diseases, and it’ll help your muscle move or function correctly. It can also prevent high blood pressure. It focuses your acquisition of knowledge, and helps you to organize your time and your resources so that you can make the very most of your life. I like to set goal every week to make sure that I’m on top of everything, so that way i’m not stressed out as much. People I know believe that setting goals is a waste of time, but they don’t realize how important it is and they are the ones who are always stressed beyond their limits. For example, my goals for the week are to go on two mile run, making sure all my homework is done, eating healthy snacks and meals, exercise for at least 30 minutes, and lastly making sure I get enough sleep at night. An article I recently read gave seven goals to help you take care of yourself such as “eating right, being active and exercise, get enough rest at night, avoid smoking and drugs, manage your stress, avoid negative self talks, and getting the care you need.” As long as you're taking care of yourself you will be living a healthy …show more content…
For example, what should we eat? The U.S. Department of Agriculture, which builds my plate says “a healthy diet consist of whole grains found in bread, crackers, rice or pasta.” They also say “include variety of fruits and vegetables, encouraging dark greens and orange vegetables, dry beans and peas.” Basically what I get from this article is that it’s very important to pay attention to what you eat. It’s very important that you don’t skip any meals! When you skip meals you are damaging your body on the inside. If I skip any meals i’m basically giving up on myself. When you exercise or workout and you skip a meal you will most likely get light headed and pass out, that’s not healthy for your
Everyone's goals and desires are different. One person's idea of happiness will be a lot different than another's. I have found the best approach to setting goals is the simple approach. Break it down into categories and then expound on each one. Do some brainstorming
I set goals for myself all the time in many different aspects of my life. This experience was different because I don’t always take the time to write out goals. Taking this extra step allows you to plan for success despite barriers that may arise due to your environment or social systems. As a social worker I will be better equipped to empower others in goal setting and planning after going through the planning myself. Being aware of how social systems and the environment affect goal setting will allow me the ability to view client’s situations through an ecological lens, while empowering them in the goal setting and planning

Staying healthy does not only mean to eat a healthy diet, but also to be active and to provide our body with stamina so it can fight various diseases. According to Myers (2003) around a quarter of a million deaths in the United States are caused by insufficient physical activity. The US Public Health Service (1996) has provided enough evidence towards the effect of physical exercise on cardiovascular (e.g. coronary heart disease) and non-cardiovascular health (hypertension, osteoporosis, colon cancer etc.). They followed a group of people for several years and found a positive correlation between the amount of participants’ physical activity and their health problems. According to many clinicians, everyone should get at least thirty minutes to 45 minutes of exercise for five days a week. This amount of exercise would help prevent most diseases, and prevention is the primary and best way to achieve health. Exercise is important to me, I always joined sports teams and tried to be active in my earlier years; however, recently I tore ligaments in my ankles and have less cartilage in my knees. Overall, I am better than most of the population at completing the recommended amount of physical activity. Every day I swim, cycle, run, or walk to stay in better shape. This along with a better diet leads to a healthy body and keeps one in shape and free of disease or sicknesses. Also, exercise helps relieve a lot of stress, in a healthy way, from personal events in my

Goal setting is key in motivation; goals need to be clear, sharp, and realistic. To make these feel more achievable it is better to break these down into smaller medium-term goals and medium-term goals into short-term goals so that you have a clear connection between what one does every day and their long-term goals.
