The grade level for said curriculum development would be focused on Kindergarten. Kindergarten is the foundation of education and setting a good foundation is the key to achievement. Discipline would need to be implemented into the curriculum to achieve success and knowledge. The curriculum would be divided into six different subject matters including, arts, English language arts, math, physical education and health, science, and social studies. (Collins)

Curriculum development can be described as the organized planning of what is explained and learned in schools as reflected in developments of education and school programs.(Lillard) Curriculum development is subjective by numerous influences. While trying to have the curriculum meet the requirements of 21st century learners, and the schools can be up for a challenge. Influences affecting curriculum development include the community as a whole, which include the economic level of the community and the social standings of the community. The social influence has its own outlooks about the goals and ideas that should be considered when planning the curriculum. It also has an awareness of what the outcome of the school system should look like. Therefore it is important for curriculum designers to take in to consideration these social concerns. Economics influences curriculum development because it concentrates on educating educators for endorsements that bring out better trained educators. Connections across disciplines, real life and connections that are skill-based or knowledge-based. Using theme-based units makes some educators go past classifying content and design cooperatively for an educational unit. Frequently three or more subjects are included in the study, and the unit will end with a mixed closing activity. Educators have seen several benefits, such as students showing excellent on-task behavior, students working cooperatively, and students showing a great deal of understanding of topics.(Lillard)
