Ryan McNally Dr. Tara Causey ENGL 1101 30 November 2017 Super Mario 64: The Game changer Super Mario 64 for the Nintendo 64, created by the Nintendo corporation, was one of the most influential on the gaming industry and the gaming community. The release of Super Mario 64 had a huge impact on the gaming world. It changed how the gaming industry and community viewed video games. During the 1990’s the video games were constantly changing.this decade saw tons of innovations in the gaming industry. The creation of 32-bit games and 3D games dominated the virtual world: Contra, Battletoads, Mortal Kombat, etc. Video game genres developed and branched out, creating some of the popular genres in video games today, such Role-playing games(RPGs), Mario’s Original Physical appearance shows the initial aim for the Mario Franchise, while also being caused by technical limitations at the time of his design.. The overarching concept of Mario was to be “a funny, hang loose kind of guy” (Game Over 47), shown by his excessively large nose and eyes. Miyamoto described his vision of Mario as “goofy and awkward” (Game Over 48). Miyamoto wanted the common man to be able to relate to Mario, so he made him a plumber with an oversized gut. Mario wears overalls because it was easier to animate his hands, and pixel limitations endowed him with a mustache instead of a mouth. Miyamoto gave Mario a hat because again, pixel limitations prevented the animation of hair. The result was a character that was easily relatable, someone friendly and humorous, who defeats his enemies in the most clean and chivalrous manner. Toad is another lovable character. His Mushroom hat and simple wardrobe suggests friendliness. Finally, we are brought to Mario’s female companion, Princess Peach. Princess Peach has appeared in every Mario scrolling game. She was designed to be the “Princess in distress.” Donkey Kong as not menacing enough to be a true enemy of Mario, so Miyamoto created King Bowser, who made his debut in Super Mario Bros. King Bowser, Also Known as Bowser, was waiting for Mario at the end of each game. He always resides in a castle complete with fiery pits and shooting flames aimed at torching the Protagonist. But even with this nefarious element, Bowser, like all Mario enemies, remains lovable. His cartoon-like look presents opposition, but not to the point of excessive intimidation. In Super Mario 64 the characters had to be redesigned from scratch to fit the new polygonal world of 3D. Instead of changing the way mario looked, they emphasized the things that were

In the console-gaming world people know Sony and Nintendo. Microsoft may be the largest and richest software company in the world, but it’s unknown when it comes to console gaming. Microsoft is counting on the Xbox to change that perception. Gamers may not be willing to take a chance with the Microsoft Xbox, even if it is far superior to any console ever made. Nintendo Gamecube is nothing if charismatic. Nintendo’s new machine is half the size of any other console and looks like a toy with its brightly colored plastic shell and handle. It’s destined to be home of such popular games as Mario, Donkey Kong, Pikachu, and Kirby. Nintendo Gamecube seems mismatched as it goes up against the Microsoft Xbox and the Sony Playstation 2 (a multimedia mayhem that Sony says it’s supposed to be “The Future Of Entertainment”). All this makes you think; what makes Nintendo believe it can possibly go up against the ultra-sophisticated Xbox.

See from moving a stick and pressing buttons to story lines, great features, great graphics, and record-breaking sales. I believe you see how it went from simple to complex, these aren’t all the games just the ones I thought were the best of both era’s.
If you gamers have ever played the Nintendo Entertainment System or the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, then you know that games used to be 8-bit and 16-bit. This means that games used to be very poor in graphics. They didn’t have the capacity for many detailed designs.
Video games started as arcade machines with simple graphics and even simpler stories, soon evolving into home gaming with The Magnavox Odyssey, the world’s first home-gaming console. It invaded living rooms in 1972, selling 300,000 units. Since then there has been many consoles and games released, some have been huge commercial successes which
The attention to detail in every part of Super Smash Brothers is fantastic. Items like the deadly Bullet Bill or the Pow Block to stir up old school Super Mario Brother memories while also sending a satisfy bow to

Video games have come a long way. They have evolved from the simple game of Pong into a complex, multi-platform, multi-genre, multi-billion dollar industry.
The case study highlighted that the new game Wii introduced by the company had the ability to attract individuals considered non-gamers or casual gamers. The Wii was not as powerful or technologically advanced as the Xbox 360 and the PS3, but its success lies in its ability to provide a new means of playing video games. The innovative design of the Wii’s controller, which had built in motion sensors, created a whole new gaming experience for users - on...
Society in the 1980s saw games as distraction and a waste of time. Arcade games in 1981 were regarded as a reason for cutting classes. Children and the youth were banned from playing arcade games during school hours and past ten in the evening on weekdays, and past midnight on weekends. Laws against children playing in arcades during the banned hours were implemented in order to prevent further disturbances in their studies (Kent 152). Games to the people in the 1980s were merely forms of entertainment that brought about many video game addicts. However, in the early 1980s video game consoles and personal computers were globally popular. This was because most of the machines that had enough power to...
