Social media can be a great thing for a person or business trying to advertise themselves but it is important that users are careful with how often they use these sites. Social media is very exciting and scary for someone like me who is hoping to be involved in public relations after I graduate. It is exciting because it makes the life of a public relations representative easier in some ways. It is scary because with the advancements in technology and in social media there is always a chance that public relations representatives won’t be needed in the future. Social media has made connecting with people easier than ever before, we are able to communicate with people that otherwise we could not without social media. But there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. One of the negative effects of social media is many times it leads to addiction, especially in teens and young adults. Spending countless hours on the social sites can distract the focus and attention from a particular chore.
