Ellis Island and Angel Island were two places immigrants could enter the United States. Ellis Island helped transform America by giving people of other races and ethnicity an opportunity to restart their lives. With Ellis Island letting people enter the United States it brought more people, diversity and jobs. An estimated 17 million immigrants passed through Ellis Island from 1892-1924. Over one million Asians entered America through Angel Island (Lee, Erika and Judy Young). America was soon made up mostly of immigrants. Among the problems that face our nation, illegal immigration seems to be one of the most regarded. “In 2005, there were 12.7 million people classified as refugees in the world. Refugees are forced to migrate because of danger in their own country.” (Cath Senker 12) Some push to end it while others want to have it legalized or less strict. There are many points that are argued on this topic. Although immigrants support the economy, they should have to pay taxes. Illegal immigration should be stopped or slowed until the legalization process and borders are improved. Due to the fact, that taxpayers are the backbone of our economy and nation as a whole.
Mexico has a long history of cartels the deaths, drugs and weapon trafficking is in all time high increasing year by year. “Mexico's gangs have flourished since the late 19th century, mostly in the north due to their proximity to towns along the U.S.-Mexico border. But it was the American appetite for cocaine in the 1970s that gave Mexican drug cartels immense power to manufacture and transport drugs across the border. Early Mexican gangs were primarily situated in border towns where prostitution, drug use, bootlegging and extortion flourished” (Wagner). They keep themselves armed and ready with gun supplies shipped from the U.S, taking control of the drug trades. The violence is spilling so out of control that they overthrew the Mexican government.
Immigration to a developed country has a lot of problem associated with it. In particular, United States has not been spared of these problems according to many experts (Massey et al. 53). On my view, though there is a positive inclination towards immigration that people tend to overlook. Firstly, there are the cultural differences; many people migrating to this country are from different localities. The ethnical perspective of these people is nearly incompatible. This incompatibility leads to exchange of the aspects of the two cultures hence enrichment of the untied states culture. This is a positive impact to of immigration. If the new people were just visiting and going back to where they came from, then such exchange could not have happened, therefore, after all immigration is not only a negative aspect in ...
It has been a long debated topic whether or not America should continue to let immigrants enter the country. Often, the immediate response would be to withhold more immigrants to come in since there are many existing immigrants already living everywhere around the United States. But the truth is that the immigrants who come in are undoubtedly helping America much more than they harm it. Examples of how the immigrants help would be the economy becoming more powerful, diverse culture, more variety, and even creating job opportunities. By maintaining an open gate for immigrants, the benefits that they bring will definitely outweigh the problems which will create a greater America.

Most of the United States (U.S) is comprised of immigrants—including those who have migrated to the States from another country and those whose ancestors freely travelled to the States in search of a fresh start.
