Imhotep is known as one of ancient Egypt 's most influential people. Imhotep is most known as the great architect of the Djoser’s Step Pyramid. Born in the 27th century BCE ( before common era) Memphis, Egypt. Imhotep was born a commoner, his mother Kheredu-ankh rose to a divine status like her son, Imhotep’s father was believed to be an architect Kanofer. Despite not being born in a upperclass family Imhotep rose to the top enabled by his intelligence and determination. Among being one of Egypt 's greatest architects, Imhotep was a poet, physician, mathematician, and astronomer. Imhotep was also a priest and was often described as a very religious man. As the vizier (among other titles) to King Djoser, Imhotep was the second most powerful man in Egypt.
Imhotep is not only known for his legendary architecture, he is also known for his medical practices. Some of his best known text are medical writings. Imhotep is believe to be Egypt’s first ever doctor, it is believed that he found a medical school in Memphis. Imhotep treated diseases such as , gout, tuberculosis, gallstones, appendicitis, and arthritis the medicine he used was created from plants. Imhotep performed surgeries and also practiced some dentistry. Although Imhotep was of Egyptian descent he was celebrated by Greeks as a god of medicine. The …show more content…

The step pyramid is known as the first and and tallest pyramid in Egypt. Imhotep is the founding father of pyramids. The step pyramid was the first ever pyramid built out of stone and is one of the oldest Seven Wonders of the World. The step pyramid took twenty years to complete which is a short amount of time considering this was the first pyramid built. Imhotep also designed a plan to build a tomb for the king.
