The Stolen Party, By Liliana Heker, uses symbolism to show the reader a class of distinction and entertainment. This short story’s theme is that social class is what defines whether someone is accepted or not. Although, people might see that imagery might support the story, to also represent distinction and entertainment. Yes, they may be a lot of signs that are symbolized by many ways, but you may also catch an image of a scene or description as well. In fact, Rosaura’s dress was one of the symbolism spotted in this writing, and also the party animal as well. Innocent Rosaura is oblivious to the fact that she was not seen as a guest. In the short story, Liliana Heker, describes how in the end, instead of being given a small trinket like all the other party guests, Senora Ines paid Rosaura, an action which left Rosaura feeling hurt and cold. This was stated in the last paragraph of this writing. While reading this bold section of this story, an image of hopelessness rushing in Rosaura’s mind and body. Adding on, one of the main entertainment, which is the monkey, represents all of the wonder and mysteries of being rich. As the monkey was a star entertainment at Luciana’s birthday party, the readers never read between the lines and came to a conclusion that this monkey strongly symbolizes Rosaura. Rosaura’s naivety made her assume herself as a guest, which made her blinded from the fact that she’s just there to be the maid. For instance, she became oblivious since she was invited to this wealthy girls birthday party, which was a spotlight for Rosaura.
