Image quality is a measure of perceived naturalness and usefulness [17]. Since image quality plays a crucial role in image processing based applications, it is necessary to quantify the amount of visual distortion in images introduced during various processes like acquisition, compression and transmission.
Image quality assessment (IQA) attempts to quantify visual quality in terms of metrics, which are used for benchmarking and comparing performances of compression techniques. Basically, Image Quality assessment is done by Objective and Subjective approaches. An Objective Image quality assessment is further categorized into 1) Full Reference (FR) 2) No Reference (NR) and 3) Reduced Reference (RR). In the benchmarking of the image compression and restoration algorithms, an original image becomes an ultimate reference for evaluation of the processed image. Quality assessment done by comparing the processed image with original image of high quality called as full reference (FR) image quality assessment. No reference (NR) image quality assessment is carried out when the reference ima...
For this assignment, I have decided to focus on what makes a good quality
New technology is an ever present, always advancing force in today’s world. For this reason it is no surprise that in the last decade we have begin to see the rise of digital imaging in our lives. Put simply, digital imaging is the process of changing a visual imaging into a format that a computer can understand and interpret. Whether or not the image is captured by a digital device, such as a digital camera or camcorder, or it is transformed into a digital file after its development, such as by scanning, digital processes are changing the face of photography and the way we interpret it. However, as with any new change or development, digital imaging comes with its own set of advantages, and its own set of vices.
Biorthogonal, Reverse Biorthogonal, Daubechies, and Meyer(dmey). Results provide a good reference for application developers to choose a good wavelet compression system for their application, with this result we conclude that 4-level Haar DWT has better PSNR as compared to 2-level Haar DWT and also provide best quality of image.
This image was taken during World War II in 1944 in France during the liberation of France. This image shows two soldiers consoling a little French with a small puppy. This image shows many representations of war. In this image, war is represented as destructive but it also shows how this destruction can bring people together and form a sense of comradery between the strangers and soldiers portrayed in the image. The use of juxtaposition, proximity and the composition of the background and foreground gives us this representation.
I would experiment the appropriate file type images suitable for the task like JPEG, JPG, GIF and PNG to improve the contents and contrasts of the
The saying, “A picture is worth a thousand words” is often used to describe how powerful an image is in terms of its capturing power. Images are used by human in a lot of different ways. The most common usage is to capture information. Aside from capturing information, it is also used to compute, compare and recall. With its vast abilities, imagery, especially visual mental imagery, is vital to human intelligence. It is a good complement with other mind based system to enhance human intelligence. It provides a different approach in representing and computing. However, images are limited to only storing limited information and are not efficient in representing abstract ideas.

When you create images you give the world an idea of you and a way to think of something. Do you give off a good image? However , when you set a bad image in someone’s head they’re going to think negatively about you and they would want to not be around your negative images or your presence. So , when you approach your peers, you should dress well and act appropriately to give off a good image. Giving off an bad image can affect your reputation in many ways. Our image more times than not , is defined by what we look , how we dress and where we come from.
I have decided to compare Raster (bitmap) and Vector graphics & their uses in modern digital multimedia.
In this essay, I will be analyzing the meaning of the two pictures shown above that are found on the internet. Both pictures are very vivid with minimal use of color. The two images such as the ones shown are used to spread awareness against the use of dirty needles, along with the risk of HIV/AIDS that come with it. The first picture caught my attention due to the giant needle stretched across the entirety of the image. While as the second picture did a good use of using the one white/ clean person that separated it from all the red/infected people. Each picture has a unique way of expressing the idea and creating a suspense towards the viewer's feelings. The two pictures display very bold statements along with their art. Although the first picture used superior words, the second picture does a better job of putting it into perspective. Neither picture display bad views, nor do they lack in the sense of making a viewer think about the statement being made. The two pictures follow the same color scheme; black, red, and white. The variety of dark black and off white with bright red, make the two pictures appealing to the bystanders eye. Both pictures display or lack
I have been waiting for such a perfect opportunity to purchase my dream computer; the MacBook Pro, manufactured by Apple that weighs 2.02 kg. Getting the right specification was the breakthrough because, even more, my desire for the 15-inch laptop computer. The 15-inch computer has over 5 million pixels, which gives it a stunning look, with images taking a new level of pragmatism. It has an impressive 2880-by-1880 resolution that enables the eyes to view more of high-resolution images. Besides, it has a Retina display , which minimizes glare, maintaining an incredible quality and color. As a result, the high contrast ratio makes black images look blacker while white images look whiter. The inclusive IPS technology allows the user to view everything on the screen at a 178-degrees angle.
Image intensification is the process of converting x-ray into visible light. “Early fluoroscopic procedures produced visual images of low intensity, which required the radiologist's eyes to be dark adapted and restricted image recording. In the late 1940s, with the rapid developments in electronics and borrowing the ideas from vacuum tube technology, scientists invented the x-ray image intensifier, which considerably brightened fluoroscopic images” (Wang & Blackburn, 2000, np). We will explore the image-intensification tube, the various gain parameters associated with the tube, and the magnification mode of the image intensifier.
The article “Forget ´Real Beauty´: Ads for Skin-Whitening Beauty Products Just Won’t Die In Asia, Global Skincare Giants Plug Whiter Skin”, written by Doland, describes the controversy of big beauty companies selling skin-whitening products in countries in Asia and Africa whilst selling self-tanning lotions in the Europe and other Western markets. Companies such as Dove and The Body Shop, which advertise themselves as ethical ambassadors of natural beauty in Europe, pro-mote contradicting values in the Asian market by sending an unconcious message to consumers that they are not beautiful in their own skin. These skincare giants seem to think that they are not doing anything wrong, but only answering to different comsumers’ demands. According to the article Unilever said: “We are proud to provide people everywhere with that feel-good experience regard-less of age, race or demographic.” (Doland, 2014)
