Clearly, life is better with an optimistic view which is key to being successful along with being driven. Keeping this mindset, I have pushed through school imagining all the excitement, new experiences, and classes that would interest me in a further education. Throughout my life I have gained experience, and made commitments which can enhance a positive UW La Crosse campus community. Growing up on a golf course connected to a restaurant has definitely taught valuable life skills. I started working for my parents at the age of ten. Unlike most fourth graders I worked with my brother to maintain the golf course during summer. My little jobs made the course look spectacular rather than subpar. One of my favorite commitments is dance team where I demonstrate leadership and hold the responsibility of being team captain. Learning the moves in a routine can be difficult and frustrating to teammates at times, but I am there to help teach the dances and maintain a positive attitude. In dance team it is important to have fun and confidence since it makes a routine look one hundred times better. Also, I volunteer for my local library program. Being a volunteer is a way of giving back since I attended the library program when I was younger. One of the responsibilities of helping there is to be a valuable role model. Demonstrating this, I talk to and encourage the kids to participate. Another activity I find meaningful is Solo and Ensemble. In order for the flute choir to be successful, teamwork is key. I needed to be responsible and nail my part of the music as so did everyone else. Playing the music with the group required superb listening skills, so we could stay together in the song. Since the flute choir was successful at these techniques, we earned a first at state my sophomore year, and a second at state last year.
