I wish to obtain a college education because I want to make my future the best that I can and I believe that a college education is really important for one to obtain. Without a college education one will not have the ability of success like one will if they decide to go to college. I want to go to college not only to get a higher education but also so I will be able to help other people with my career choice. Being a nurse will give me the ability to help people everyday with the special needs that only a college graduate will be able to provide. Although there are many other career fields that help people everyday I believe that nursing is the most important. I think I am deserving of this scholarship because education has always been my
The historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) are fledgling to compete with Predominately White Institutions (PWIs). HBCU were established to serve the educational needs of black Americans. Before HBCU college was create blacks were generally was denied admission to traditionally all white institutions. Since black Americans was prohibited from whites schools HBCUs became the principle means for providing postsecondary education. There are several reasons why all blacks’ schools does not compete with predominately white schools. HBCU’s most of the time do not keep their accreditation, their tests scores are very low, and do not get as much funding
I am a cocoon still on the verge of transformation. In order for me to transform myself into something beautiful, there are many processes and steps that need to play a part. NJ LEEP’s College Bound Program can help me improve the person I am regarding work ethic, creativity, articulation, etc. Due to this program, I will obtain a greater understanding on how to manage my time wisely, think in a different way from other people, and speak in an elegant way. In addition, it can help me gain more knowledge and have a greater understanding in life. I am able to acquire life experiences, as well. I realized that through my five years in Harrison, I had not been introduced to the actual world. I am in an enclosed, giant bubble called Harrison. Due to this, I never had the opportunity to experience how the real world is and meet new people unless I make changes into my life. Harrison might not be able to offer me many chances. However, NJ LEEP will. Nonetheless, this program will allow me to overcome multiple fears that I could never been able to overcome before, such as public speaking. NJ LEEP is only my first step to achieve greatness and success.
Scholarship is a concept that can mean many different things to many different people. As nursing students, scholarship is a concept that we began developing before we started our formal nursing education, will continue to hone during nursing school, and will utilize every day as professional nurses. Scholarship is not something that comes from a singular source, but rather something that is the product of many different experiences, ideas, and types of knowledge. For nurses, it is the synthesis of knowledge from liberal education, knowledge from a variety of disciplines, and the integration of ways of knowing and thinking in nursing that promote scholarship, which in turn leads to the promotion of safe, quality patient care.
I plan to graduate from College of the Sequoias with an Associate’s Degree in communications and to maintain a grade point average of at least a 3.7. Once I earn my degree, I will transfer to a university where I will begin to work on my master’s degree. With my master’s degree I can pursue my dream of working for Disney Parks in public relations. While I am still a college student, I will apply and hopefully be given the opportunity to participate in the Disney College Program as well as a Disney Professional Internship. These internships will help me to learn more about working in the field of communications, to gain practical experience and to network with individuals who can help me achieve my career goals. A scholarship would be incredibly helpful for me to achieve all that I intend to by allowing me to devote more time to my school work. Since I currently work two jobs, as a tutor and as a sales associate, it is often difficult to find time and energy to complete my schoolwork. If I were to earn a scholarship, it would allow me to work fewer hours a week so that I can focus more of my energy and time on my education. That way, I can get the best grades possible and have the best chance of success in my
College is a place where people go to learn and to grow as a person. Most people go to college for the same reasons. They want to set a good foundation for getting a job, experience new things, or because their parents wanted them to. All of those reasons apply to me also.
Los Angeles is my goal place to be when I graduate from high school. The weather, the amount of people in the city, the diversity of culture and types of people, the numerous amount of different opportunities, the famous landmarks, beaches, and so much more intrigue me. I chose the University of Southern California for my college research project. USC is located in Los Angeles and their campus looks really lovely which is a reason as to why I would like to possibly go to that university. Many people shoot for UCLA, it is one my list of colleges to go to, but not my first because many people strive to go there and I don’t usually like going somewhere where many people usually choose to go. There are many different programs, activities, and clubs you can join and participate in and I absolutely love communicating with new people and try new activities.
I need this scholarship to achieve my goals and most importantly to make my family proud. My family did not get this chance that you are giving me so I am not just doing this for me, I am also doing this for them. I already have all the support from all of my family and all of my friends, but that alone is not enough to conquer my dreams, and to prove all the people that have doubted me that they were wrong. I hope that this organization can help me reach my goals, and to most importantly make them become a reality. I want to look back onto my life and know that this scholarship, and college helped me to be the man I will be. I hope you accept me into your college and most importantly giving me this
Since I can remember, I always considered Bloomfield my home. I grew up there, went to grade school there at Immaculate Conception, made memories I will never forget there; what a better way to continue the memories by attending school there at West Penn Hospital School of Nursing. As a child, I would not have considered myself economically disadvantaged, although we were. After going through a nasty divorce that left my mom with virtually nothing and with no formal education to support us, she never let us know she was struggling. Not going to college is a big regret of my mom and she never stops pushing me to be better, go to school, get an education because it is the only thing you will always have. This scholarship would help me with the
In a world where most college freshmen do not graduate or dropout, i feel like it would mean to much more to me to graduate and be able to say I got my degree. studies have said that half of freshman will not complete there degree, another study said that 25% of freshmen will change their major before they finish their sophomore year. If i was given this scholarship money it would put me in a place where hopefully I won't become just another statistic. Another reason a college degree is important for me to achieve is so that i will be respected in my work industry of choice. When you are in a place of work, there is always someone who everyone looks up to because they know the most about certain things, but more often than not that person has the highest degree in his or her field. If I was awarded this scholarship i would be more capable of being that person because i would not have to worry about leaving school to figure out how I will pay off my
I am an excellent candidate for the Scholarship because I have proved to be a dedicated and involved student during my High School career. Throughout my four years of high school I have excelled academically and athletically. I have been an extremely busy student. Currently The vice president of my high school, I have obtained the respect of both my peers and faculty. Many of our school functions have been left to my responsibility, such as "Spirit Week", "Senior Week", proms, school dances and more. Besides being one of the leaders of my school, I am also the captain of the Swim Team and have been in charge of many other school and outside related committees, including the Advisory Board which converses with our school committee to discuss ways to make the High a better place.
I believe I should be awarded with this scholarship because I can not depend on receiving a soccer scholarship when I have yet to receive any calls. I need help paying for my tuition, housing, and books. We all know how expensive that can be. It's not just those things I have to pay for, I also have to pay for lunch, toiletries, car maintenance, and other things adults have to pay for on an everyday basis. I already have a list of things to pay for, but i don't have a job. I want to be a cardiologist and help people who have heart diseases, heart murmurs and other major problems young and older people face. I want to encourage people to avoid these problems so they can live a long and healthy life. I've been told I would not receive a lot
This scholarship will allow me to pursue a higher level of education. I made the most of my four years in high school, and receiving this scholarship would allow me to do the same for the next four years. I spent my high school career preparing for the future by maintaining good grades and staying involved in extra-curricular activities. With a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.981 on a 4.0 scale, I spend a lot of time on school work. Being ranked 9th out of 114 students is something I take pride in having accomplished. Grades are incredibly important to me, and I believe it shows. I am constantly looking for ways to challenge myself, so naturally I took all the honors courses offered at my high school. While the extra work may have been challenging,
Education is man’s most valuable possession: it is the concept through which one’s love for learning stems, and the equipment used to pave an individual’s path to success. Although easily influenced by the opinions of others, education is one of the few concepts that neither internal nor external stress can strip from our being. The future of our society lies in the hands of our educators; the values and morals instilled by such figures govern the actions of the earth’s people.
Why do I deserve this scholarship?? Well, the main reason I believe I deserve this scholarship is because I know that I am one of the few that will use this scholarship to its fullest potential. I am essentially promising to protect your investment into the future. I will use the scholarship to develop myself as an individual by constantly learning and always acquiring new skills. Also, this scholarship would benefit my parents tremendously as they would not have to pay $7,000 towards my education. As I have grown older I have realized; to live comfortably you must make yourself a Necessity. Something the world needs. Someone the company must have working for them. I will use this opportunity to mold myself into someone that the world needs.
The educational system has changed tremendously over time, and still currently changing. One could say it is evolving, altering and modernizing its practices. Is it so easy to change the people who work for this beast? Some things have changed for the better, yes, but a lot has changed for the worst. Many of these effects are felt with in the work of the educators themselves. Then by default is greatly effecting the students in our community. According to Mrs. Weller this makes the journey more difficult, but the end result is still worth it. “While the administration, and the “higher ups” get in the way, this is still my calling, to make a difference in a person’s life”. I definitely felt a lot of apprehension when talking to her. She kept
