The desire to help people and make a difference in the society is what attracted me to the field of medicine. As a child I was always interested in science as a subject and participated in many National Level Science competitions. I volunteered for Urban Leprosy control program, which gave me an opportunity to interact with Leprosy patients and participate in activities aimed at educating people about the disease and disease prevention. It was during this time that I had a chance to closely observe the relationship between a doctor and the patient and I decided that I wanted to pursue a career in the field of medicine. During my undergraduate studies at the prestigious Dr. D. Y. Patil University, I developed a keen interest in subjects like Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology, Pathology and Internal Medicine. During my 2nd year, I was introduced to patient care in the form of clinical postings. Your hospital being one of the busiest hospitals in the area, caters to a variety of patients from different backgrounds thereby providing a good clinical experience and also allowing the residents to learn by observing various types of cases. The weekly resident activities like Mortality and Morbidity meet, grand rounds and lecture series provide optimal educational experience and promote team spirit which I believe will be of great help to me in developing my career. If selected into your residency program I would assimilate into your medical team and would contribute by bringing my enthusiasm, skills and hard work into the team.
