My generation is all about going to parties , not caring about school as they say “ live for today ,party tomorrow “ .Everybody wants to be successful or just be “ rich “ but little do they know that in life ,things don't come to you , you have to run after your goals .There's always pressure everywhere in school , at work and even sometimes at home.
The environment that I live in its really not so amazing as we picture , anybody with a weak mind can get influenced easily but I don't let nothing in this world influence me just my parents words can get into my head as long as their right , sometimes we teenagers believe we know everything but as I grown everything that my parents have said , it has happened I know they have already experience at least half of my future , they knows what's to struggle to know what's to not have nothing and if you don't work hard , you can't expect great things to come easily into your hands but also and most importantly understanding what's the purpose of you being here in earth , as I grown and the way everything surrounds me and how life is going by I feel like I came here for a reason and that is to be leader and help anybody that needs me.

Later that year, I was accepted into Spanish Honors Society, a volunteer based program to help out the Spanish communities near my school along with volunteering to help raise money for organizations that help less developed countries. One particular project that I helped raise money for through Spanish Honors Society, was Project Running Waters. The money raised for this event was donated to help people living in Guatemala receive fresh water through pipe systems that would be built. We raised over one thousand dollars to donate to this cause. Knowing that I can positively impact individuals in my community and in other countries makes me feel like I have grown maturely and am able to understand what needs to be done to make a difference to
I generally perceive myself as a quiet leader, someone who leads by example. I demonstrated leadership during my experience in the People to People program and Rutgers Biz Ed. The People to People program took place at Harvard University. It was a week long program taught us leadership qualities, how to prepare for college admissions, and learn how to serve our community. During the time I was in the program I participated in team work activities such as, rock climbing. The activity was done to show that we trusted our team to hold us up and for us to encourage others to climb higher than they thought could be possible.
fraternity, I came up with an event called GoWest Goes Greek. GoWest Goes Greek was an event where I reached out to all social, art, music, and academic sororities/fraternities to come together and do a huge community service project. The project consisted of cleaning all the GoWest buses, to show them that as a campus we are grateful for the free services and all the disrespectful behaviors they have to encounter. To conclude just a glimpse of my service I have done for the community and campus, I would like to talk about one last experience that impacted people here in the community but also people internationally. I was Vice President for an organization called Rotract, which is an international volunteer organization. In my term of being VP my responsibility was to do a local and international fundraising event.
It is the job of a leader to be a role model because people look up to you. Leadership is something I may have to work on a little because I am a shy person, but that doesn’t stop me. Last year, some 6th grade student were going to be selected to give a tour of the school to the 5th graders who were coming to Great Hollow the following year. My teacher was unsure that I would be a good choice because I am quiet in class. But I convinced him to let me be a tour guide and he was impressed with my performance. Being a leader is no simple task. During my Eagle Scout project, I lead a range of people, from adults to youth. It was my job to make sure everyone was working and, that everyone was capable of doing their task. I had many issues doing this throughout my project because I am only one person and I can’t be everywhere at once. Thusly made being a leader a drudgery. Over the summer, I completed my community service hours at Ohio Valley Medical Center. At the beginning, I was afraid of whether I would like it but after my first day there I could not wait to go back the following week. It gave me some experience in the hospital since I want to work in the Intensive Care Unit when I am older. I met so many volunteers, new and old, that taught me a lot about volunteering and the hospital. I would not give up my summer involvement at the hospital for anything.
I believe that leadership is not something that you are born with, but that has to be learned over time. You learn to become a leader from watching other leaders, and also from personal experience. People should become leaders; so that they can help others do their best. They should not become leaders for the title and power that may come with leadership. Being a leader does not mean you get to boss people around by telling them what to do. The purpose of a leader is to guide others by encouraging, showing them the way, and by challenging them to do the best that they can do. I learned leadership through personal experience. In high school I played sports and had many class projects to do. My senior year was the first time my school had a soccer program, and I along with two other girls was captains. As we all know, when a group of girls come together, the drama comes too. All three of the captains had to work together and show the girls that if we wanted this program to be a success and grow, they had to work together as well. It was hard at first, but when we encouraged everyone, it worked out better than expected in the end. Also, in my business class, we had a lot of projects that were mostly group projects. During the end of the year, we had a project where we had to make up a new product. My partner and I were both seniors and it was a stressful time with finals, SAT scores, graduation, and trying to become honor graduates. We were tired and just did not want to do another project, but our teacher, Mr. Brace, did not give up on us. He showed us what to do, and encouraged us constantly every day. As I have developed in my job, school, and as a person, I found that I enjoyed helping others and want to become a leader. This paper will further describe how my experiences and background have shaped the leader I am today.
Leadership is being able to direct or guide other people by either your own actions or by actually guiding them into the right direction (Acumen). Inspiration to be a leader might come from many different areas like your family, friends, peers, or even teachers. My inspiration didn’t really occur to me until I started attending college in August 2013. In all actuality I never even thought of how to be a leader until I was in Mrs. Moore’s Perspectives class. I now have a desire to be a great leader, and the inspiration has come from Mrs. Moore, and my family. I am the first to attend college out of my family, so in a away I have already started leading my siblings in the right direction. Being a leader means inspiring others to pursue their dreams, and aspirations and helping throughout the journey to success. Being a leader has nothing with authority or being able to tell other what, and how to do things, it’s about having people who look up to you and want to follow your example.
For many years, I have been told by teachers, family, and friends that I am a good leader. Until fairly recently, I had never truly thought about what it means to be a good leader and just took it as a compliment. Leadership is an intangible concept which cannot be properly outlined in a dictionary, but one which must be formed and explained only through one’s own philosophies and experiences.
Throughout my life I have encountered the chance to experience position of being a leader. Being part of groups in university for class presentations, being the organizing secretary of my campus fellowship, being a youth leader in my church and the church admin, also being part of a family. Leaders are charismatic, inspirational and trust worthy. I have gained some important qualities of being a good leader through these experiences. Most of the valuable leadership’s characteristics that I obtained and strengthened are: learn to become a better leader every day, how to be a team player, to be a better listener, to be an effective communicator, to have more patience, not afraid of constructive criticism, to be outspoken, and to be a problem solver. Even though I have gained a lot, I still have more things to learn to become a better leader such as being more assertive, being more disciplined, becoming a better public speaker, and learn how to be realistic and not too optimistic. You are a leader if someone else choses to follow you.
I would attend the school pep rallies, football games, join the school powerlifting club, and school dances like Homecoming and Prom. Although these annual school events were fun and memorable, volunteering for community service hours holds a special relationship with me. It helped me realize my passion for helping people in a socially and physical way. This passion accompanied with my hobby of exercising led me to pursue the career of a physical therapist. In general, the experiences and lessons that I’ve adopted in American Canyon High School was truly life changing, and I’m grateful for it everyday.
Being a leader in almost any given situation has been an innate quality that I have possessed for as long as I can remember. I have always found myself nominating myself for leadership positions. My most recent and fulfilling leadership position was in my eleventh and twelfth grade school years when I held the position of Drum Major for Purnell Swett High School’s Marching Rams. Being in this position meant that I had to give up the spotlight of performance, turn my back to the crowd, and lead my fellow band members on and off of the field of competition, high school football games, and community parades. Over the course of these two years, I have learned many defining qualities about myself and have learned how to incorporate these newly learned and innate qualities into my everyday life.
I also had the privilege of helping with the Meals on Wheels non profit organization. My grandfather used to be a Meals on Wheels recipient and he would share with me how he enjoyed looking forward to their company and a hot meal daily. I volunteered because I wanted to give back and help someone else’s loved one in the same way. It was very rewarding delivering hot meals to people who didn’t have the means of getting one as well as being there for them to talk to. Overall, it was a very humbling experience, it made me realize just how blessed I am and how much I take for granted daily.
