Information technology has been my strong interest and it is what I am studying for at Philadelphia University. The career path I have chosen is Network and Computer Systems Administrator. Running, as an administrator is not a very task, there is a huge level of responsibility involved. It is very imperative that the administrator ensures all system is running at normal operation. If there is any critical error that has not been resolved, it will pose a serious threat to the organization. (Network and Computer Systems Administrators) Summary has clarified the responsibility the administrator must fulfill. You need to have an associate degree, bachelor degree or any certification. You must have a strong knowledge of computers and electronics.
IT, "Information Technology", refers to anything related to computing technology, such as networking, hardware, software, Internet, or the people that work with these technologies. Many companies have IT departments for managing the computers, networks, and other technical areas of businesses. IT jobs include network administration, computer engineering, Web development, technical support, and many other related occupations. That means "IT" already highly overused, is here to stay.
Included in the $50,000 pay is benefits like paid vacation, paid holidays, and in some cases a bonus at the end of the year. as you become more educated in the career you will begin to achieve higher positions and promotions at that time at that time you begin to get higher pays such as 55,000 to 60,000 dollars (institute 16-17). The most common places for computer network administrators to work are in schools with a average pay of $50,000, college with a average pay of $55,000, industries averaging anywhere from $70,000 to $80,000, and goverment jobs averaging $80,000 and above up to the 100,000s (institute 17). typical hours for a computer network administrator in 40 to 50 hours a week. All of which makes this job perfect for myself as an avid computer fanatic. The technological aspect of this career not only excites me it also presents a challenge. A Challenge in which I as a student, and young adult, will be given the opportunity to rise and show my own strengths. Similarly, the engineering aspect of this career is also demanding and extremely taxing as a student and young adult. I will be pushed to succeed within this field and become versed in many areas of education in which i could pursue entirely different careers in within the future. Software engineering will give me an “A” rating of employability according to Sokanu, a career research site. This means that within my career many doors will always be open to me as i find my path through life. I will not have any problems in the employment industry because of my highly sought after skills. I will be able to provide for myself and all of my needs and wants. Software engineering is also not concentrated in any one state. Thus, making it possible for me to travel and find work where i wish to travel. Software engineering is a career path that will allow many opportunities for me to grow and learn as a young adult, student, and as a gear i the global
Network managers are responsible for ensuring efficiency through a network, this includes a number of jobs such as monitoring the network for problems and fixing them before they affect the network users, making sure network security is fully updated and capable of protecting the network from all threats, restricting employee access to files they do not require, updating networks with different routing protocols and making sure two networks are compatible in the event of a business merger or expansion and resource keeping. Resource keeping refers to keeping track of the resources on a network and making sure that users who need it have access. Network managers can be responsible for other jobs, which vary depending on their place of work, such as planning and developing new networks.
According to Richard Brisebois, Greg Boyd, and Ziad Shadid, “IT Governance is needed to ensure that the investments in IT generate value-reward-and mitigate IT-associated risks, avoiding failure. IT is central to organizational success – effective and efficient delivery of services and goods – especially when the IT is designed to bring about change in an organization. This change process, commonly referred to as “business transformation,” is now the prime enabler of new business models both in the private and public sectors.” (Brisebois, Boyd, & Ziad, n.d.).
I read Management: Manage teams, lead effectively and build trust in the workplace. By Derek Stanzma. This book describes how to hire a good manager and strategies to help become a successful manager. It is to instruct a manager on how to help others to become sufficient in their job and to learn how to motivate others to give their best in their job duties. Also it gives tips for how to hire a good manager. As a manager you need to not only manage others, you need to know how to effectively instruct those you manage on completing their jobs. The role of a manager is very demanding, as a manager you have a large amount of duties and it is important that you fulfill these duties in an efficient manner.
My earliest memory of career goals were in elementary school where I wanted to be a pediatrician. This would remain my goal until age thirteen when I designed my first webpage and began operating a successful e-commerce website. I had quickly learned about the power of computers – they simplified previous processes so much that a thirteen year old could operate a successful business. I was hooked and was driven to learn all that I could to unlock more of the seemingly limitless potential of computers. In high school I pursued certifications in computer networking and hardware until finally my intellectual curiosity led me to the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business where I majored in Management Information Systems and Economics.

For a career, I would like to be involved in the fast developing computer industry and more particularly with the Internet. I think it has immense potential and I would like to be able to develop the Internet to make it help the lives of day to day people. In this way I would also like to help make computers more like humans with for example voice operated user interfaces.
Probably the most common thought of career position within the information technology arena that garners the most OS-centric job description specifics is that of the system administrator or network administrator. A system administrator is a person employed to maintain and operate a computer system or network for a company or other organization. The duties of a system administrator are wide-ranging, and vary widely from one organization to another. Sysadmins are usually charged with installing, supporting, and maintaining servers or other computer systems, and planning for and responding to service outages and other problems. Other duties may include scripting or light programming, project management for systems-related projects, supervising or training computer operators, and being the equivalent of a handyman for computer problems beyond the knowledge of technical support staff.
In an organization availability, confidentiality and integrity are the key components, which is suppose to guide information security policies that are established. Policies set will need to “operate in conjunction with the organizations established security policy” (Whitman & Mattord, 2012). This case study will detail the legal environment at an organization, such as laws, policies and regulations. This paper will also highlight how these factors impact the availability, confidentiality, and the integrity of the information and systems.
Short for Simple Network Management Protocol, a set of protocols for managing complex networks. The first versions of SNMP were developed in the early 80s. SNMP works by sending messages, called protocol data units (PDUs), to different parts of a network. SNMP-compliant devices, called agents, store data about themselves in Management Information Bases (MIBs) and return this data to the SNMP requesters.
Does the BBA with a concentration in computer information system course develop the skills required by employers in the area of Computer and Information Systems Managers?
During the PM change of shift report, an RN calls in ill and the staffing office says she cannot be replaced. This leaves only one RN, Mrs. K. for 26 clients. Mrs. K. says, “If you do not get another RN for this unit, I am going to quit this job. I will not do it this shift, but I will not put up with this constant shortage of help. I don’t care if it is an RN, but I should have people with some skills to get the clients cared for. The reason everyone quits around here is because they are overworked, underpaid, and the hospital management does not give a damn. The place needs to be investigated.”
Coming to the point of my current career choice has been a long road. My idea of what a career is or should be has changed with circumstances and age. According to Weintraub (2005), “the average worker spends only four years in a job and will have 12 jobs in as many as five career fields during his or her working life.” (para. 1) My first career was marriage and motherhood followed by a surprising healthcare career. What the future holds waits to be seen. With a bachelor of science degree in information technology the options are wide open.
