This is my story, I’m Brendon Cox, I was born and raised in Columbus Ohio. I was born to a single mom with whom I lived with until she got into a car accident when I was three. Then my grandmother became my custodial guardian afterwards. I lived with her until I graduated high school. I went to a private school called Holy Spirit from kindergarten to fifth grade. I played multiple sports growing up. I played soccer the longest, I started playing soccer when i was around three or four and played until my freshman year in high school. I played keeper and striker in soccer and really enjoyed it. I started playing baseball when i was five or six and played until sixth grade. I became fairly good at it very quickly, by the very next year I was coming in first at almost all of my meets and I even competed at the state level. My freshman year of high school was a plethora of new beginnings for me with school and sports. I was extremely excited for track but i had to wait all the way till spring for track season to start. My freshman year of high it took a little bit of time to get used to the larger, heavier implements. The shotput increased from eight to twelve pounds and the discus increased from one kilogram to 1.6 kilograms. Plus the diameter of the discus increased by quite a bit. My freshman year there were two seniors and a junior plus me. I was afraid that I would get injured badly enough that I wouldn't be able to continue my track career and I didn't want to take that risk. My sophomore year I hit the weight room harder in the off-season and became even better at shotput and discus. It was also my first year of indoor track which I only threw shotput in. I improved my discus throw to about 128 feet and my shotput to about 43 feet. This was also my first year of summer track. I joined Team Ohio which was a team under the association of United States Track And Field (USATF). My junior year I got a new coach at and improved my discus to 148 feet and my shotput to around 45-46. My senior year I did really well with indoor shot and threw 50 by the end of indoor season and qualified for indoor states at Akron university. Outdoor season was absolutely amazing. I continued to improve almost every week. I came in first almost every meet in both shot and disc. At my conference meet I PR’D in both shot and disc, I ended up throwing 55’7” in shotput and 152’9” in discus. I came in first for shotput and second in discus. Giving me the title of first and second team all-American. I came in first for shot and second for disc in the district meet as well. I place third in shotput at regionals to move on to the state meet. I didn't place at the state meet but my team overall came in second at the state meet. In summer track I PR’D in discus with a
