Hypocrisy: The Obama Care Debate

Healthcare has become a hot topic in the United States as of late. There are those who debate if Obamacare is beneficial and those who affirm it, those who assert that healthcare is not a civil right, therefore the government should not be involved, and those who believe that Americans should never be turned away from a doctor because they have insufficient funds. In “An angry doctor's plea: Stop bickering and fix the Obama Care mess,” Cardiologist Kevin Campbell argues with passion and frustration that the “Washington Elite” are focused on their own interests; and that the American people are bearing the burden. This angers Campbell, and as a prominent physician, he takes it upon himself to be heard by lawmakers who “behave like toddlers,” in support of his struggling patients who have lost hope in the American political system. A major theme that he circles back to is partisanship and the lack of compromise from both parties; which is “Leaving millions of Americans without any type of legitimate healthcare.” He then describes the hypocrisy of congressional democrats – who touted Obamacare as a great success – but voted to exempt themselves from the purchase of Obamacare. Campbell also explains how “Money, special interest groups and concerns over re-election (as well as power moves within Congress) dominate the thinking in Washington.” These examples are an attempt to create a “Us Vs.
