Recommended: Hybrid electric car theory

Electric motor: Serves two purposes in hybrid technology i.e., as motor and as well as generator. For example when serves as motor, used to accelerate the vehicle and when as generator, used to slow down the vehicle and return the power to the vehicle.

SOC: SOC stands for State of Charge of the battery and it expresses the available in terms of Percentage of the battery rated capacity.

6. Design Parameter:

The Main purpose of Hybrid electric vehicle is to convert the chemical energy from the batteries into mechanical power which is used to drive the vehicle in most efficient and eco friendly manner.
The main design parameter behind the system is that including batteries, electrical motors/generator, and necessarily a second source of torque with its fuel source. The second source of torque is often taken as an internal combustion engine, running on gasoline. In other cases, it may be an I.C.E. powered by hydrogen fuel, a diesel engine.
Hybrid electric vehicle’s combine both mode i.e. electric mode and I.C.E mode, so that the system provides the maximum efficiency which is helpful to vehicle go as far and most of the people prefer this kind of vehicle with higher efficiency and emits lower emission rate. In this project, electric battery mode is used at lower speed and when higher speed will require vehicle will move on internal combustion mode. By doing this efficiency of the vehicle maintain at constant rate.

 With help of controller the limited amount of electric current is added to or drawn from electric batteries in order to prevents overcharging and may prevent against overvoltage, which can reduce battery performance or lifespan, and may pose a safety risk. It may also prevent completely draining ("deep discharging") a battery, or perform controlled discharges, depending on the battery technology, to protect battery life.
 Engine is started with the ignition switch, as the engine delivered the power to the sprocket connected at both the ends of the engine shaft with the help of chain drive, this enables the two sideways tyres to move the vehicle.

The concerns with auto emissions brought back the idea of hybrid cars. C. Russell Feldman, one of the founders of Motorola, decided to explore the possibilities of hybrid cars again. He contacted an electrical engineer named Victor Wouk to see if a hybrid car could work in society.
