Lives have been taken. Homes have been destroyed. None other than Hurricane Irma has caused this destruction. Hurricane Irma first touched down on Wednesday, September 6, 2017, making history, as it was the second hurricane in the past two weeks. It was classified as a category five hurricane, making it extremely dangerous to those in its path. Hurricane Irma’s path of destruction is the Caribbean Islands, Puerto Rico, Haiti, Bahamas, Cuba, and the Virgin Islands. Hurricane Irma is the second hurricane to hit U.S in the past two weeks, hitting mainly Florida and Georgia. It not only destroys buildings and homes, but it demolishes people’s hope as well. The National Hurricane Center says that the hurricane could bring dangers such as life threatening storm surges, destructive winds, flash floods, and mud slides to Cuba, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, the Bahamas, and other states. Many people who are in Irma's path have never experienced a hurricane much less a category 5 hurricane. In less than a week, authorities have had to move their attention away from the Hurricane Harvey victims to Hurricane Imra that is on its way to the U.S. It is already devastating enough for the Hurricane Harvey victims, but people in Irma’s uncertain path are preparing for a direct hit. Officials are slowly shutting down daily life such as school being canceled and the NFL game has been canceled as well. Can you imagine what it's like to face leaving your home to flee from destruction? The home you’ve grown up in could be completely destroyed by the time you come back. Everything that you’ve known in your life, everything you have grown comfortable with could all be destroyed.
