Good evening guests, teachers, faculty, family, and most importantly good evening students. We have all gathered here tonight to celebrate one very important and exciting event in our lives where our career at SJJ ends… and the future starts. We entered this school as children. Our days went by in a breeze. And we walked through these doors picking our noses and drooling at the mouth. At this time we can’t help but look back at past and reminisce, but going on we should only look forward. It is ok to feel sad about past and to experience waves of nostalgia every once and awhile. But do not let those memories fog your vision looking forward. If you do, you won’t be able to see opportunities shown to you in the future. We are leaving this school
Good evening. I would like to begin by welcoming each and every one of you to this joyous and stressful occasion.
I had never contradicted my teacher before. I told him that my opinion about nostalgia being a waste of time seemed very unfair to me. I thought; why would He be saying that remembering what once made me feel happy was a waste of time. isn’t it worth it to revive whatever made us feel good at the moment? like our childhood, the places we’ve been, the people we grew up with, that moment when we felt alive or excited, that moment when we fell in love maybe. Was all that a waste of time? we got into an agreement. I refused to understand the point, but then he added a fact that hit me like a truck, I immediately felt related to it. He said that most people tend to tolerate nostalgic thought often because they refused to accept their current life. The nostalgic feeling presents these individuals with happy memories that perhaps, allow them to forget their current situation. I understood his point because I pictured myself in that same situation. Unconsciously, that was my exact situation but I was unable to see it, or maybe I was just in
Looking back on my three years at Twin Cities Academy, I find myself wondering how all these years came and went so fast. I still watch myself walking through the same halls and sitting in the same classrooms as I did back in 6th and 7th grade and I’ve seen myself grow so much, mentally, socially and physically. I still remember everything that has happened throughout my years, the best of times, and the worst.
As Father of the Bride, I am honored to be the first to speak this evening. I would like to begin by welcoming each and every one of you on this joyous occasion. It is good to see so many friends and family here today to help celebrate Paula and Manson’s wedding. I would also like to remember those who have meant so much to our family, but could not be here today.
It was the fourth year of my school carrier. In other words, the year of truth if I would make the cut to the higher education track. I was nervous because I knew that I would be capable of going this route, but I the feeling of concern was stronger because I haven’t had performed very well in my fourth year so far. At the end of the school year, I received the shocking news that I didn’t make the cut to go to the school which would have had allowed me to go to University later on in my life. I was sad, disappoint in myself, and lost self-esteem in my educational abilities. At this time, I was more embarrassed then able to realize the real benefit of a system which early on tracks children’s
Commencement is a critical juncture in our lives; it is a momentous occasion where we believe we are about to start anew. However, graduation is the bittersweet moment where the forces of past and future are simultaneously acting on us. Consequently, the past is not dead. Alfred, Lord Tennyson, suggests that our past experiences will be with us forever as he states, " [we] are a part of all that [we] have met; yet all experience is an arch where through gleams that untraveled world." That is why graduation, similar to other turning points in our lives, possesses two halves, which accentuate each other. We are looking forward, but the "arch" of experience beckons us to remember, value, and learn from our past experiences. Thus, I feel that in order to appreciate commencement fully, we must remember our own past, and in particular, the last four years:
An anonymous author once said, "What you need to know about the past is that no matter what has happened, it has all worked together to bring you to this very moment. And this is the moment you can choose to make everything new. Right now." Over the course of my school years, it has been an exciting and shocking experience. These experiences have been an enjoyable journey from my elementary to middle school years. However, after several years the end of my middle school adventure is coming to a close. Soon my new journey will start as a freshman. Eight grade will surely be one of my most memorable years. It has been an absolute wonderful one hundred eighty days, and I will miss some of the aspects of eight grade—but certainly not all of it.
Today completes the chapter of our lives that we have been comfortable with for the past 13 years. High school may be over, but we still have a long exciting way to go in life. From our four-year experience we will take with us the memories, good and bad, and relationships we have made with each other and the County High School staff. From these experiences we have learned and grown and will continue to do so. Growing up and moving on will be a huge part of our lives in the next few months. The decisions we will make come in-part from the choices we have already made.
Let me first say that the bridesmaids look absolutely smashing today, and only rightly outshone by our bride, Pamela. And, I'm sure you'll agree with me gentlemen, today is a sad day for single men, as another beauty leaves the available list. And ladies, I'm sure you'll agree that today's passing by without much of a ripple.
It finally dawned on me that this was my final first day as a high school student. The years flew by so fast. As I made my way to the top step of the school bus, I was greeted with a warm smile and a simple good morning from my bus driver. Shorty after that, I walked towards my seat. The bus ride was extremely aggravating. Children were jumping up and down in their seats as if they were kangaroos, middle school boys were flicking simply green boogers everywhere, and the middle school girls were going on and on about there new boy crush. A man once said “things change. And friends leave. Life doesn't stop for anybody.” Over time things change and develop till they are not how they were before. After so long if someone does the same event as you, such as going to school, they will experience something completely different. School has changed in a plethora of ways from a parent’s time through school and then their child’s time through. Things have changed in many positive ways and some not so much. People have many hopes and fears for the future of their schools.
Everything was great and I spend a great eight years. I was a good student in all of my natural science classes, especially in Biology and Math classes. I was in contact with many of my school friends and teachers in every of our school activities. I still remember playing soccer for our school team when I was thirteen-years-old. Actually, I still play soccer and I play awesome, but I don’t want to be a player. In addition, my elementary school life was great and successful eight years for me. I had a great respect and personal admiration how our school teachers, stuff workers, and directors treated us especially, our educational manager, Mr. Belay Amara, because he treated everyone like his own son or daughter.
