Humorous Wedding Narrative

This past Saturday on April 29th I attended a wedding at St. Francis Xavier College Church on Lindell Blvd in Midtown St. Louis. The groom and bride of the marriage were Ethan and Diana. However, their lasts names were not said when Father Avera witnessed the vows of the ceremony.
This Sacrament was in the context of a Mass as I previously said it took place at St. Francis Xavier College Church. Some of the benefits of celebrating the Sacrament of marriage in a mass context are being able to celebrate the gift of the Eucharist along with the Sacrament of Matrimony. It also reminds us of how we are called to love one another in our lives, which at its peak is marriage. The celebration involved many symbols, mainly the two rings that are to be worn on each the man and woman’s finger. The rings symbolize their vows to each other as forever loving married couple. The songs spoke of both God’s Love and humans’ love. In the song “To You Oh Lord, I Lift My Soul” for example, represents both God’s Love and humans’ love as it shows how God will take care of us and protect us, and also how we as humans trust in God to do this. The Scripture readings used were from the Book of Ruth, Paul’s letters to the Corinthians, and the Gospel of Matthew. The readings mainly focused on love which of course fit the occasion perfectly. The first reading from the Book of Ruth explains the love Ruth and the second wife had for their husbands and their families. The story shows the way a husband and wife are meant to love each other. The second reading was from Paul’s letters to the Colossians, which showed us to be more like Christ in the way he loves everyone, including his enemies. Lastly, the Gospel was the Beatitudes, from the Gospel of Matthew. The Beatitudes show us that we must first show love in order to receive the blessings of
