“They came in the middle of the night, barging down the door belting and yelling that this was on official government business requirement. Upon entering, they beat us making us bare and stripped away our clothing as they laughed in mocking tones. Evil dripped from every word they spoke. Screams were heard in the distance indicating we weren’t the only ones getting this visit yet none of us dared to turn around to see the infidelity that was happening around us. I have heard this before, I had seen this before. But why did it have to happen to me?” (By a close friend and survivor of human trafficking)
Human trafficking is a problem and may be addressed as a form of slavery. It chooses no preference, old, young, woman, child or male. All are vulnerable to its cruel and unkind hand. Human trafficking has been here since the dawn of time even dating back to biblical times and as history shows its destruction in the divisions of whole ethnicities and countries. This matter not only affects 3rd world countries but it affects all, both the healthy and the rich. For instance, the Bush Administration was mostly affected by the trafficking of women as sexual slaves sold to all parts of the world. Human trafficking is just a modern way of calling it slavery.
In this modern day, many have grown to assume that the injustice of slavery was abolished with the acceptance of all men created as equal (Declaration of Independence) even though this was just the tip of the iceberg. The main problem we face with the extinction of human trafficking is the lack of knowledge that the problem still exists. By shining a light to this controversy and the motivation to abolish it, will help in the eradication process one country at a time.
