Human populations have been rising slowly for centuries. However, there have been a few times when population growth was affected. As modern medicines began coming into practice and science and research started moving faster, death rates began to drop, and people lived longer. The life-span went from around 40 years old to 70 years old. Another thing which impacted the population was the industrial revolution. As industries began to thrive, and efficient mechanisms were put in place, more could be done in a day. This meant that more hands were needed in the workforce. More opportunities were on the horizon than ever before, and men and woman knew they could do better and feed more mouths. Thus, the population grew faster as the death rates continued to drop. I must drive to school every day, I forget to turn off lights sometimes, I feel lazy and use paper plates when I have parties and I love eating a well-seared steak. However, I am conscience of these things. I carpool with my dad so that we need only one car, I make concerted efforts to conserve energy, water and heat. I have convinced my family that we can have the thermostat at 64 to 66 degrees in the winter and still live. I also have begun eating more vegetarian. However, I do still occasionally indulge in red-meat. However, since I learned how high the emissions from cattle are, from their gases and from their feed, I am hesitant and I tend to lean towards other options now. I am moving up to Stevens Point at the end of this semester, and I am looking at getting an affordable car with good gas efficiency, and I will be living close to school. I try to turn off the water while shampooing and brushing my teeth. I have started my own little organic garden to help me with my food, and I know someone up there who has chickens and I can get eggs from
