Human Evolution: Two Philosophies

Good Essays
Most evolutionists believe that humans were not descended from monkeys. Instead, they both share a common ancestor that eventually split into different species and have been expanded and modified through theorized changes in form and function. However creationists believe that “God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them, and he made it good.” (Genesis 1:27-28) In this essay I will be explaining some of the different questions about human evolution and what creationists and evolutionists think about them.
The first major question about human evolution is; have humans evolved from an ape-like creatures? Most evolutionists believe that humans shared a common ancestor. Evolution requires two things. “First is DNA, differences in our DNA have led to the different hair colors, eye color and etcetera.” (Dr. Kim Matulef, Standford University) Second evolution requires DNA to be passed down from father to son or mother to daughter. Over a long period of time more animals have good DNA and fewer have bad DNA. This is called natural selection. Which brings us back to the question have humans evolved from apes. What most evolutionists think caused modern apes and humans to appear was the two groups have been separated in different environments for a long of time. Natural selection can work to evolve new species if the old gets split into two different groups. Most evolutionist believe that between 7 to 8 million years ago an ape-like species live in the forests of Africa, and were success full to survive until the climate began to change and forests began to dry out which forced apes to leave the woods and into the open grass. Over millions of years of separation. On the crea...
