Deciding on a major seems like a very tedious task and it always feel like your friends already got their future planned out. Even if you do decide on your major, it is not guaranteed that you will stick with it, because your interest might change. Deciding on your major earlier on can get you prepared to go into that field by taking similar classes or even looking more into it. Deciding on a major is an important process and it involves 3 different steps: your interest and hobbies, your probable job options, and your school options.
The first thing you need to do when deciding your major is to think about your interest and hobbies.They can help you determine a major that you are interested in. Most students just look at the current jobs which makes the most money and go for it, but this is where they mess up. Although having a lot of money is a great thing, you have to do something that you love or you will not stay with it. The best way you know you going to happy and successful with your major is if you do something that you really care about. You need to think about your favorite pastimes and hobbies like Sports, Technology or even Musical instrument, being only a few of hundreds of hobbies. Your interest always can change though so do not set your mind just on this. Your favorite subject in school can also help in this area. Deciding between a math, science, english, or history high school class, can really simplify what you want your major to be in. Go for the subject that you mostly make A’s in or if it interest you a lot. You also might want to impact the world in a type a way like being an inventor or scientist to find the cure of cancer.
