Writing is a way for me to express myself, thoughts, and emotions. Writing is a way for me to communicate to others, which is what I like the most about writing. Being able to tell a story, or an idea, is something that can sometimes be better explained in writing. By having the right style and format, along with content, writing can be a useful tool. Writing is enjoyable because a lesson is learned every time a mistake has happened.

After telling their tales to several audiences, storytellers are also able to improve their editing skills based on the feedback that their audiences give them. As stated by Swerdlow, writers often have to prompt other people to think as they read “It’s something that you must do even if you do not have the leisure of being in prison. To write, you must work methodically, forming your thoughts and prompting other people to think as they read. Writing requires work at both ends. That’s what makes writing special” (42). Subsequently, writing is not an easy task by any means, but it helps us express important aspects of our persona.
The writers of these essays use diction, as all writers should, as their tool to evoke the intended reactions from their audience. This helps to make a piece of writing good. It is important for every good writer to know how to present his ideas to his readers. Organization is a key step that a writer should become familiar with. Writing is one of most difficult subjects to master due to the writing tactics many writers use and the different tips followed for the various writing topics. A writer will elaborate strongly when pressure is not included during the time they are writing. If a writer feels pressure while writing a paper it will become visible to readers that the writer was not comfortable causing them confusion. Another important factor to take under consideration is the time that the author spends when writing because it will reflect on their critic’s opinions. When writers feel freedom to include all their ideas their writing becomes a jargon of ideas however, if given a prompt writing is more clear and straightforward.

Gregory A. Denman, in When You’ve Made It Your Own… (1988), writes, “A reader’s ability to see, smell, and touch a poem is due to the success of the poem’s imagery. Poets search for particular, specific details that will appeal to the reader’s own senses—‘tasting, touching, hearing, seeing, breathing,’ as e e cummings has said” (37). A poem can capture and preserve a scene with imagery, and also provide the reader with a sensational experience. Addonizio and Laux link imagery to experience, they write, “The more you practice with imagery—recording it in as much vivid detail as you can—the more likely it is that your poetry will become an experience for the reader, rather than simply talk about an experience” (91). Creating images is one of my favorite aspects of poetry because, when the image works, it can lead the reader toward some insight.
My outlook on writing has been modified by shifting my perception of writing from, writing to prove I am a good writer by perceiving it as using “fluffy” or BIG words to impress my audience. I grew to understanding that good writing’s purpose is to engage the writer by mind-striking ideas and arguments, which therefore will prove and title me as a “good writer”. This assignment is a testament of growth and contributed to my outlook on strategies towards improving my writing through the importance of understanding how crucial, each component of the writing process is and how in depth you should take each process. Lastly, this reflection advocated how editing is the principal task of every good writer. “To write is human, to edit is divine,” Stephen
This also creates a connection with the reader; leaving some type of effect or impacting the reader along with the characters’ lives. Although there are many elements in writing but one of the greatest things of writing is the ability to make the reader empathize with the characters. This goes beyond than just a connection with the characters; when the reader is able to apprehend with the characters he or she is truly relating and reaching out to them. The author has accomplished something truly special when the reader has the ability to feel the agony that a character is feeling. Effectively using these elements in a piece of literature enhances the reader’s curiosity.
