How Tobacco Affects the Human Body
How many people will become smokers this year? How many of those will be diagnosed with a disease? Will you become a smoker? Smoking is a worldwide issue that needs to be resolved. Do they realize the effects of smoking on their body? This addiction is life threatening and can be resolved, simply by quitting.
Most people are unaware of the ingredients in tobacco. The drug levels in the body are affected by tobacco. When a smoker begins to inhale the cigarette, "drug levels peak within ten seconds of inhalation" ("The Deadly Effects of Tobacco Addiction"). Although drug levels peak within ten seconds then disappear, this is an astounding, very quick amount of time. In cigarettes, nicotine is the top contributor of complications in the body. This ingredient "causes addiction. Research shows that nicotine activates the parts of the brain that control feeling of pressure" ("The Deadly Effects of Tobacco Addiction"). Nicotine is a very powerful ingredient. There are a vast number of damaging compounds in cigarettes. Many ingredients are "chemically active. They can start dramatic and fatal changes in the body. There are over 4,000 chemicals, which can be damaging to the smokers body" ("Disadvantages of Smoking-Bad Effects of Smoking"). Some chemicals include tar, nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide and many other damaging compounds that exert great strain on the body.
Lung cancer and breathing in smoke are a few of the many negative effects of smoking.
Secondhand smoke effects many nonsmokers. The effects of "secondhand smoke can cause heart disease and lung cancer" ("The Deadly Effects of Tobacco Addiction"). It is astonishing that adults whom do not smoke can still be at risk for serious dis...

...el and formation of thrombi. Over 7000 chemicals found in tobacco smoke cause breathing difficulty, wheezing, lung infections and chest pain. The long-term effects of smoking can cause many cancers as it contains many carcinogens. It is the leading cause of cancer affecting the lungs, mouth, throat, kidney, stomach and many other areas. Not only do tobacco products affect the user, but also the ones around them. Second-hand smoke can increase lung cancer, heart and breathing problems, as well as a premature death. In pregnant women, the unborn baby may be subject to health problems. By eliminating tobacco products, not only do previous smokers reduce the risk of developing cancer, but also can reduce their chance of dying prematurely by a very large percentage. For example, quitting at the age of 30 can reduce their chance of dying prematurely by over 90 percent.
The first main point in the article discusses the health issues associated with smoking to non-smokers and smokers. According to the U.S Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), smoking causes cancer and heart disease, and other illnesses among smokers. Furthermore, a non-smoker is affected by smoking with the same conditions. Secondhand smoke enhances asthma, bronchitis, or allergic disorders among individuals.
With smoking cigarettes, cancer can be developed through the lungs, mouth, nose, throat, larynx, trachea, esophagus, stomach, pancreas, kidneys, bladder, cervix, bone marrow, and blood. The most recent causes are lung cancer and cardiovascular disease/ respiratory disease which causes a stroke. These chemicals damage DNA which causes the cells to grow abnormally. It starts to affect the immune system which begins to kill the cells. The cells don’t function properly to maintain proper blood flow which in the end causes cancer. With higher heart rate and blood pressure, the platelets in the blood begin to stick together and form clots which causes amputation. Smoking cigarettes also causes diabetes and teeth/ gum disease. Smoking cigarettes causes eye problems and it affects vision. Smoking cigarettes affects infertility and impotence which causes pregnancy and newborn complications. It begins to affect the baby by becoming premature or having some sort of disease. Smoking cigarettes can change your entire physical
A Tobacco plant is made up of approximately 5 percent of nicotine by weight. There are two categories of tobacco products cigarettes and smokeless tobacco. Nicotine has many effects on the body but the effect it has on the brain is responsible for the so called “good feeling” that is behind the addiction. Nicotine is considered to be addictive because of the psychological and physiological effects on a person. The Center for the Advancement of Health published the results of a study on teenager smokers:
Nicotine is an infamous chemical substance that is often found in tobacco. Tobacco contains several hundred chemical compounds and has been known to cause many dangerous health issues, primarily to the respiratory system, such as coughing, asthma, and in many cases, lung cancer. However, it is not nicotine itself that causes these health issues, but rather, it is other chemicals, mainly tar, that lead to damage in the respiratory system. That is not to say that nicotine is harmless. On the contrary, nicotine is a stimulant and it is the major cause of why tobacco is so addicting (Benowitz, 2008). An advocate for this claim, could argue that nicotine is more dangerous than tobacco itself due to the addiction that it can cause. This point of
In the world that surrounds the human race every day, debates about cigarettes are ongoing. Many think that cigarettes should be banned and made illegal just as heroin was. On the contrary, giving up old habits such as smoking can be hard to accomplish and is fought otherwise. The truth is that with every drug there’s a cost that must be paid, although cigarettes are more settled, the life threatening effects cause cancer, heart disease and death.
Every year cigarette smoking is responsible for 500,000 premature deaths (Nugel), you do not want to be just another statistic, do you? America’s first cash crop was tobacco. That means that tobacco has been around for a really long time. It was not until 1865, though, that cigarettes were sold commercially. They were sold to soldiers at the end of the Civil War (Dowshen). From then, cigarettes spread like wildfire, and it was not until 1964 that anyone made a stand about the negative effects of tobacco and cigarettes. People start smoking for all different reasons, some to fit in and some to “escape”. Regardless, it is a horrible habit. 3900 children will try their first cigarette today. Amongst adults who currently smoke, 68% of them began at age 18 or younger, and 85% at 21 or younger (American Lung Association). And of all those people, 70% say if they were given another chance they would never have picked up that first cigarette (Tobacco Free Maine). Smoking is responsible for 1 and 5 deaths in the united states, and is the number one preventable cause of death (NLH). Smoking burns and there is no doubt about that, but before one picks up that cigarette, understand the negative effects on not only oneself, but others affected by ones poor choices, like second-hand smoke. Because of smoking cigarettes, many types of cancer, decrease of life quality, and negative health effects have become all too common in the world today.
Smoking can cause problems all over the body and in just about every body system. Cigarettes contain over six-hundred ingredients and can produce over seven-thousand chemicals when burned. Many of those chemicals are poisonous and sixty-nine of them can cause cancer. The main ingredient in cigarettes that causes the addiction is nicotine. Nicotine can make its way to the brain in mere seconds and make you feel energetic but after a while you will become tired and crave more. As you begin to smoke and more your lungs begin to lose its power of being able to filter harmful chemicals. This makes smokers more vulnerable to little infections such as a cold or even the flu. Some of the most obvious signs of smoker begin with the outside of the body. Smoking will soon produce wrinkles and premature aging and will cause other to be able to see the outcome of smoking against the younger generation of people. (Health
Smoking cigarettes is a detrimental practice not only to the smoker, but also to everyone around the smoker. According to an article from the American Lung Association, “Health Effects” (n.d.), “Smoking is the leading cause of preventable death in the U.S., causing over 438,000 deaths per year”. The umbrella term for tobacco use includes the use of cigarettes, cigars, e-cigs and chewing tobacco. While tobacco causes adverse health consequences, it also has been a unifying factor for change in public health. While the tobacco industries targets specific populations, public health specifically targets smokers, possible smokers, and the public to influence cessation, policies and education.
Tobacco smoke is made up of more than 7,000 chemicals including over 70 carcinogens such as: nicotine (an addictive drug (, Cyanide, Ammonia, etc. Smoking any product that includes tobacco (cigarettes, cigars, e-cigarettes) puts you at risk for a variety of diseases such as heart and lung disease but can lead to something even more lethal, Lung cancer. Lung cancer is the second most common cancer in both men and women, it also is the leading cause of cancer death among both men and
Did you know that in 2011 there were more than 6 million tobacco caused deaths worldwide (Henningfield)? Smoking is the act of inhaling and exhaling the fumes of burning plant material. Because there is nicotine in cigarettes, they are highly addictive. Cigarettes are one of the worlds most devastating causes of death and disease (Henningfield). There are many negative effects from secondhand smoking, both immediately and over time. Smoking also affects the environment indoors negatively. Also, when pregnant woman or parents of young children smoke, they could harm their children. People should not smoke with others around because they are exposed to harmful chemicals and they are not the one putting themselves in danger.
All peoples from the world know that the smoking is a bad for health. Although these there are some peoples start the smoking for many reasons. Many peoples start the smoking from young either when go army and from school. I suggest the smoking is one very problem for the world and must be found a solution for it not to become to dies a peoples from it. People who smoke have more colds, flu, and pneumonia than people who do not smoke. After you quit smoking, you will have fewer of these illnesses. You will probably lose your smoker's cough 1 or 2 weeks after you quit smoking.
Cigarette smoking is a danger to our life and health. It is the leading known cause of lung cancer. Each year more than 30,000 people will die of lung cancer and 4 out of 5 of them will get it because of cigarette smoke.

Scientists and health officials have been arguing the detrimental effects smoking has on our health for many years. Smoking can lead to serious complications including asthma, pancreas, lung and stomach cancer due to the large number of carcinogens (cancer causing chemicals) and other various substances added to it. It is a health hazard for both smokers and non-smokers and it is especially harmful to unborn babies. Although smokers claim that it helps them to relax and release stress, the negative aspects of the habit take over the positive. As it has been stressed by the scientists and experts, there are some very severe reasons of smoking but its crucial consequences should also be taken into consideration.
