This semester was a headache because I was going through the transition from high school to college. I was learning new things and I lacked the traits a college students needs to have in order to do well. I know now that my next semester will defiantly go smoothly, because I now believe I have the traits a college student should contain thanks to my Professors!
Choosing what to become in the future is considerably easy but actually accomplishing that goal is a whole different story. It will be a long journey but will take many important decisions to get there. The first important decision is whether to go to college or not. Up until senior year in high school, students have access to all the help they need to get by. After high school is a new world, many students are on their own to get a chance to form their own life.
Throughout much of high school, I have never really had to try. This became a big issue for me as I entered my senior year considering my college path beyond high school. DE English was the medication I needed for my lack of undertaking. The higher level work that the class demanded was exactly what I was searching for. The work load throughout the course was a great model to help me prepare for college.
Growing people always dream about going to college. They think that after finishing high school automatically comes college. But the question is do they realize the value of having a college education, or they just go because someone told so, or maybe this how it goes. People now days don’t really know how value having a college education is. “Education is most powerful weapon which people can use to change the world”.
After a well needed self-evaluation I figured I was going to make the best out of every situation. So, when the school year started I was determined to finish the first semester with excellent marks. College most definitely helped me with a lot of aspects I struggled with in high school. I learned to manage my time and money wisely, step outside of my comfort zone, become more independent, and get a
By taking challenging courses in high school, the students’ academic transition to college will be easier. However, the most important skill to possess is in good time management because it will help students to distribute their time between recreation, and academics. Even though it is important to take several precautions before attending college, the student also has to be prepared mentally for this new venture. This assignment was worthwhile for me because after completing this assignment I now realize how I can be successful in college. However, the only problem for me now is to apply these “precautions” into my daily routine.
College is a huge dream for a decent amount of students, but these individuals that we, students, look up to through-out this career make us terrified of the thought. Right from the gecko, our plan for our future is middle school, high school, work, college, than life long career. After getting bombarded for so long, students want to escape the stress and worries. By taking a gap year after high school, students can clear the mind of any school related stress and relax. No more tests, judgement, ridicule, and
This semester I have learned a lot of new things in the first-year seminar. The few things that I have learned about myself and the type of student I am but also what to do to succeed in school. This class has helped me with the transition from high school to college for the reason I talked about before. When I first got here I was afraid of the switch because I would not have the support I had in high school that this class helped me to understand the ropes of college and how to navigate through it. This class has been for me because it has helped me in college.
Personally this reality is accurate. I realized that college being so unbelievably close as it was would be the next step in my life after high school. This caused me to strive to get ahead of everyone else in the college game. I decided to take dual credit classes to earn college hours as well as save my family some money. Since money is a big part of this world, the chance to save some is always welcome.
Regardless if I do continue attending the same university, these past few months have brought about something in me that I could have never done alone. Looking back at the first day, I was still young and curious of the world. It was the first day of high school again and I spent most of my time just looking for the right classroom. I was still ambivalent about my major, but I just decided to push through and maybe figure out my major later. As the weeks went by, I began to experience a lot more of what the “college life” is really like.
