“I’ve missed 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” ~Michael Jordan. This quote is great for the 1980s because it was a time with many tragedies but in the end lots came out of it. On April 26, 1986 a nuclear plant in the northern part of Ukraine, Chernobyl, had a meltdown. Thirty people died in total, and many animals were mutated. The 1980s was a joyful but awful time because there many deaths but many inventions that we still use today.
On April 26, 1986 there was a terrible accident that killed 30 people. The accident was at Chernobyl, a nuclear plant in northern Ukraine. So much radiation was released that lots of the animals in the area had birth defects. Like lots of the fish in the cooling ponds were mutated. There are mutated giant Wels Catfish that will attack people or Deer that eat the grass that has been infected. 5% or the radiation went up in the atmosphere or downwind. While it was open 6,000 people worked there, but only 2 died the night of the accident, and 28 more died from the radiation. After the accident 400 million dollars was spent on making improvements. The radiation also caused very big problems for people too. There was an increase

It was created by apple in california, in 1984. It cost 2,495 dollars and only had a 9 inch screen. It had little money compared to other computers but when the macintosh 2 came out it had more memory. It had 1mb of ram but could expand to 4. The computer was targeted toward students and workers. They finally stopped selling the computer in 1985. The macintosh was named after its creators, Jeff Raskin, favorite apple. It was a text based computer. It ran by clicking on pictures. It had a handle on it but also needed a carrying bag. Finally it was 16.5
On March 28, 1979, at 4:00 A.M. Eastern time, the worst accident in commercial nuclear power history happened. It was a nice day in Dauphin county, Pennsylvania, and then it all happened. This accident was rated a 5 on a scale that only goes to 7. The scale is called International Nuclear Event Scale. It all started inside the secondary-system where the pilot-operated relief valve was stuck open releasing large amounts of nuclear reactor coolant. This horrific accident caused many scientists to worry about nuclear energy, as well as concerning scientists that it could be a danger to the world, so this caused many safety concerns among activists and the general public which resulted in in new regulations for the nuclear industry, and has been cited as a contributor to the decline of a new reactor construction program that was already underway in the 1970s. Even though this sounds like it should have caused many people to develop cancerous cells, epidemiological studies analyzing the rate of cancer in and around the area since the accident, determined there was a small statistically non-significant increase in the rate and thus no causal connection linking the accident with these cancers has been substantiated. After
Throughout the 1980s, which was one of the most interesting decades there were, Americans only focused on the things that life offered them…not life as it was. The materialistic, glamorous, and technological aspects were obviously great contributors, there was some down fall with the economy also.
The 1980s were a different time period. People start getting better ideas and those ideas were advancing history. A major thing that was part of the 1980s were vehicles. Vehicles were people's transportation. Vehicles were advancing at that time in the 80s some of the first production car were being introduced to fuel injection. Cars were starting to evolve and high horsepower started becoming a factor as well. Movies were another big part of the 80s because graphics and actors were becoming better.
The 1980s was a decade of reform. A decade when technology was improving and people were reinventing themselves all over the United States. Ronald Reagan was the President at this time from January 20th 1981 until January 20th 1989. Which was actually most of the decade, and between the years Reagan made extravagant and questionable changes for the government and economy. These questionable changes even caused was between two other countries. Drugs even became a problem when crack cocaine was the drug of choice. AIDs was also a complication during this decade being the leading epidemic. The purpose of this essay will be to explain the political and social issues of the 1980s, the following are just a few examples.

Hopefully, with accurate analysis and innovation, my research will teach the world of its past so this disaster doesn’t occur in the future. B - Summary of Evidence Chernobyl (chrn byl) is an uninhibited city in north Ukraine, near the Belarus boundary, on the Pripyat River. Ten miles to the north, in the town of Pripyat, is the Chernobyl nuclear powerstation, site of the worst nuclear reactor disaster in history ("Chernobyl", Columbia Encyclopedia). To specify, on April 26, 1986, Unit Four of the Chernobyl nuclear reactor exploded in Ukraine, injuring human immune systems and the genetic structure of cells, contaminating soils and waterways. Nearly 7 tons of irradiated reactor fuel was released into the environment—roughly 340 million curies.
Humans were a victims of the Chernobyl nuclear accident which affected their lifestyle and their health. People of Chernobyl were evacuated to clean and safe areas. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) (2006), there were 116 000 people who were evacuated from Chernobyl region to other safe areas in the summe...
In 1953 it was estimated that there were 100 computers in the world. Computers built between 1959 and 1964 are often regarded as the "second generation" computers, based on transistors and printed circuits - resulting in much smaller computers. 1964 the programming language PL/1 released by IBM. 1964 the launch of IBM 360. These first series of compatible computers. In 1970 Intel introduced the first RAM chip. In 1975 IBM 5100 was released. In 1976 the Apple Computer Inc. was founded, to market Apple I Computer. Designed to Stephen Wozinak and Stephan Jobs. In 1979 the first compact disk was released around 1981 IBM announced PC, the standard model was sold for $2,880.00.
The company started April 1, 1976 with Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak. Charismatic Jobs persuaded Wozniak to build computers for resale that Wozniak originally designed as a hobby for personal use. To purchase the first computer components, Jobs’ sold his VW mini-bus and Wozniak had to part with his “beloved” HP calculator. (TAM) Apple I was resold by a local store called the “Byte Shop” for $666.66. Apple was incorporated on January 3, 1977. December of 1979 in exchange for company stock XEROX invited Jobs and several Apple employees to see the “Alto Computer” which featured a graphical user interface (GUI). The GUI allows for a user to navigate his/her computer using a mouse and click on objects as opposed to pressing a designated key. Jobs quotes saying that he was “instantly convinced” that all future computers would have a GUI, and set off to create an “insanely great” computer.
Chernobyl was the greatest nuclear disaster of the 20th century. On April 26th, 1986, one of four nuclear reactors located in the Soviet Union melted down and contaminated a vast area of Eastern Europe. The meltdown, a result of human error, lapsed safety precautions, and lack of a containment vessel, was barely contained by dropping sand and releasing huge amounts of deadly radioactive isotopes into the atmosphere. The resulting contamination killed or injured hundreds of thousands of people and devastated the environment. The affects of this accident are still being felt today and will be felt for generations to come.
The 1980s was a deadly and significant decade. Not just the U.S. went through a dark time the whole world experienced many wars and conflicts. On the bright side a lot of technology was produced plus many entertainment shows were created. The fall of the Berlin Wall was a memorable day for the Germans. They hated being trapped and controlled by the German Government.
The 1990s is a decade full of change for the good but also the bad. There are many events that happen during this decade that affect not only America but the world as a whole. During these ten years Americans experienced things never before though possible. In this time people see the end of a war, the beginning of a war, a huge advancement in technology, and the changing in morals for the country. The American people had two different presidents in the 1990s these two men changed America both in positive ways and negative ways. The culture during the 90s changed drastically from the previous decade. The 1990s will be remembered as a time of advancement and great change that shapes the world still to this day.
In almost every part of the world Apple and at least one of their products is known. The Apple brand started in the 1970s. Three men founded the organization in 1976, to produce a computer that every citizen could use personally (Sohail, 2010). The first item released was the Apple 1 personal computer kit made by Steve Wozniak (Sohail, 2010). Through the 70s, Apple concentrated on developing storing technologies such as the floppy disk and the use of color, graphics, and spreadsheets used for business (Sohail, 2010). Apple was about to have their first major product release with a million dollar ad campaign. This was the release of the Macintosh personal computer, which also led to Apple’s great reputation (Sohail, 2010).
The biggest damage is the radiation exposal to the people. 530,000 local recovery workers were exposed the radiation, the effective dose is same as fifty years of natural radiation exposure (IAEA, 1996). 31 nuclear power staffs and emergency workers were died by direct effect, and the Chernobyl Forum anticipates the total num...
