In life, patience is a virtue. Patience is one of the most important characteristics a person can carry with them. My entire life has been a learning experience, and I have learned to become more patient as the years have gone by. In Romans 5: 2-4, the bible states, "through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope." This verse has really helped me through tough times, because no matter how bad the rough patch is that I'm going through, I know that suffering produces perseverance. God has a plan for me and it starts with a blessing and ends with eternal life. Therefore, I will be a better man at the end of everything. As many people know, I am a golfer. Golf is a game of patience, and the moment you lose your patience, your game goes downhill. Just this past year, I have started a new tradition before every event. I read my bible and focus on the verses about patience. By doing this, my game has improved immensely. Being patient is not the easiest thing to do, but when God is with you, anything is possible. Ever since I started playing golf, I …show more content…
Ever since we have talked about Hebrews in class, I have been focusing on a few of the passages. Dr. Jones stated, "The sweet anticipation and favorable expectation of God keeping his promises and expressing his redemptive love in Christ. It is a deep trust based on my experiences with God." Hebrews 3:6 says, "but Christ is faithful over God's house as a son. And we are his house if indeed we hold fast our confidence and our boasting in our hope." As I read this verse, it related back to my struggle with having patience, and waiting to see God's plan play out. I must not fall back, I must hold fast in my hope in Christ, and go on to
Have patience, like Job, and remember trials are only temporary. Even though Job, through his fear and ignorance thought God caused his trouble, he never turned from God. He cursed his situation, but not God.
The book Picking Cotton, the Bible, the film Conviction, and many gospel songs are given great ideas from people who overcame obstacles of faith. Obstacles can be anything that stands in our way of reaching our goals, having prosperity, or being what God want us to be. Great faith endures great tribulations, each day comes with it is quota of struggles and difficulties and every minute victory becomes seed to grow our faith. Whether we are physically contacted by sickness, death, divorce, or unemployment we require grace to endure. But during endeavoring times we learn who we authentically are and more importantly, we learn about God‘s faithfulness.
We should be glad that we serve a merciful God and that God will bring relief to our suffering in due time. Deut 5:10 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments. Lam 3:22 It is of] the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. We all ought to rejoice that God is merciful and our suffering He will bring to an end. The people or the backsliders had come back to God from their own path to the Lord once again and even though it may not have been a full commitment it stimulated the heart of God to give them relief. 1Ki 18:37 Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that thou [art] the LORD God, and [that] thou hast turned their heart back again. God brings plenty of rain from a little cloud. When you walk with God you can see your deliverance before it comes to past 1Ki 18:41 And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for [there is] a sound of abundance of rain. Elijah was tuned into what God was about to do. What channel are you on? Can you sense when God is about to move on your life. The servant went up once and saw nothing (Ki 18:43) and he had to go up seven times to see God work. We always want the answer the first time, we want the job we need the first time, we want the cure or the healing to occur the first time, we want the reputation restore the
From childhood, everyone has heard the saying of how life is not fair. For me, I try to remember this in every aspect of life, including relationships. Sometimes it is hard for me to be happy for others if something good is happening in their life, while mine is falling apart. However, by reminding myself that God has a plan for my life that probably will not match up with my own understanding; therefore, no matter what happens I need to trust and believe he will make everything turn out well. This can also be applied to if someone lying or betraying me. I try very hard to see the best in everyone and by realizing that God is working in everyone is some way helps me see that this understanding is
James 1:2-6 Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, 3 for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. 4 And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.
“Good timber does not grow with ease, the stronger wind, the stronger trees. The further sky, the greater length. The more the storm, the more the strength. By sun and cold, by rain and snow, in trees and men good timbers grow.” All of us experience trials, most the time several are simultaneously. Because we are ready to be strengthened, Heavenly Father gives us experiences also called trials, that stimulate growth, understanding, and compassion which polish us for our everlasting benefit. To get from where we are to where He wants us to be requires a lot of stretching, which usually entails discomfort and pain. When enduring through a trial we need to remember, we have trails for a reason. Instead of dwelling on the negatives of what is happening around us, we need to focus on, what we can learn from this or how we can grow and become stronger.
For a person like me majoring in Computer Science, this talk highlighted the importance of presenting ideas to the world. Chris in his professional world is certainly a genius roboticist, but in this talk, he has to approach a wider audience, to show the product of his effort to the world. So, he used different rhetorically effective approaches like metaphors, contrasts to illustrate how self-driving can make commutes safe, and be usable for a versatile group of people. Moreover, people like me majoring in technical field do not take subjects like English seriously, as they won’t directly get involved in the fields of English in the future. But, what I have learnt from this talk is that, English as a subject if taken seriously can change the
...pparent reason is not the patience that one should accept, but one should be patient for certain things like a Master's Degree or a higher position at work. Like the earlier example of one who where to obtain wealth through illegal activities. This person did not have patience to make an honest living. Patience will lead to making good honest decisions that in turn reward in a way that will certainly be most satisfying.
... fulfill this with time without disobeying and falling to Satan’s shortcuts. Satan tantalizes The Son of God with glory to be more like God, not only does this temptation align with hope, but The Son of God resists these temptations, even with though they implicitly had best of meaning, wishes, and intentions for others. The final temptation of the Temple and The Son of God claiming God head draws a parallel with Faith.
Surveying the Old Testament reveals the theme of God’s faithfulness to his people. In light of this understanding, the restoration of the Israelites prophesized in the Old Testament is essentially the fulfillment of every covenant with God. This perspective relates to the work of Christ and encourages any follower of God to trust in his faithfulness.
I, first of all, am not that picky when it comes to a spouse, as long as I am attracted to them as they are to me. I would want my significant other to have good cleaning abilities. I would want her to have that, because I’m not very tidy, but maybe in a couple years I will be able to start being a little bit cleaner. She would also be willing to withstand long car rides or plane trips, mostly because I enjoy traveling. Last, but certainly not least, she would have to be patient. The sole reason for why she would have to be patient, is because I plan on having a kid or two of my own. Then again, she would have to be willing to have the child.
The crux of my faith ultimately revolves around my personal salvation and union with Christ. Without God’s redeeming acts, I am still a fallen human being without hope for redemption. But, our Christian understanding of soteriology offers hope and freedom through the acts of Jesus Christ on the cross and by the power of the Holy Spirit. Because of this, we can celebrate the promise of John 3:16-18:
Paul tells us to “fight the good fight of faith” (Tim. 6:12). We must not hold on to unbelief. When we give ourselve...
For example, going to school. Some challenges come from trying to understand a difficult subject and dealing with the judgment from others at school. This requires patience because tutoring takes the majority of everyone’s time and can sometimes cause frustration. Having patience and tolerance gives the mindset of working hard and achieving the goal desired. Patience also helps with judgment from others because that judgment can cause discouragement. Having patience will give the mindset of realizing that in the end, all the events and situations happening at the moment, will not matter in the future. In the end, patience will help in giving encouragement and hope that will help overcome the judgment of others. Waiting for something also requires patience and tolerance. In The Most Dangerous Game, Rainsford was trapped on a tropical island and was forced to stay with his life on the line. He managed to come across a man named General Zaroff. General Zaroff was a hunting addict and he loved to hunt humans. Rainsford wanted to get off the island but he had to be patient. Instead of almost getting killed by General Zaroff, he decided to be patient and tolerate or play along with General Zaroff’s little game. This was rewarding for him because Rainsford won the game with flying colors and was able to live. Rainsford was able to leave the island and go back to his normal life by being patient. Having patience was rewarding and he was able to tolerate the time, and the situation, in order for him to escape to his
Today's Gospel reading shows us that the Lord is with us through times of trial… or when the storms of life get to be too much to handle. Whether He calms the storm as he did for the disciples, or asks us to let him walk through the storm with us, as Paul talks of in 2 Corinthians, or gives us the strength to fight against it, as He did for David while up against Goliath; he is always with us. He does not ignore the cry of the afflicted.
