Technology can be conveyed as a necessary evil in our life today. It’s considered necessary because it can save lives, and make them easier. Yet it’s considered evil because it can destroy lives on a physical and mental aspect. We as human beings enjoy finding the easy way to do things. Instead of looking through hundred of pages in books for information, you can simply type your question into Google and get your answer in seconds. The internet 's search engines may not find the answer to an exact question instantly, but it will provide millions of different websites that will have information on the topic. It advances education substantially, saves many lives, allows communication throughout the world instantly, organizes so much information that is easily accessible, and helps with innovation and creativity in humans. Sure there are negatives to it, but what really matters is how much the positives and negatives weigh out. It has advanced the human race so far above any other race on Earth that we have trouble keeping up with it. The beauty behind it is that it can never stop advancing. I think the main idea from the article “How Google, Wikipedia Have Changed Our Lives – For Better and Worse” who was written by Jennifer Woodard is how this generation of people rely entirely too much on the internet to find their answers for school and everyday life. When people used to research for information they were looking for they could spend hours in the library, reading countless books to find their answers and even find more then what they were looking for. Now when researching people are so used to finding out what they want to know it only takes seconds to type in in your phone and find on Google your answer. Learning before there was computers or google, you had to listen to the whole lecture to get an understanding of everything
Technology is supposed to be seen as such an advancement and great accomplishment. What others may not always know is sometimes it isn’t all fun and games, it can be dangerous. Today the world revolves around different kinds of technology that are used for many things, some are necessary and some are not. Technology is a big part of our lives, and many would say we couldn’t live without it. Weather people like it or not technology is here, and it’s not going away. Hence, life is easier, yet it has taken away some of the enjoyment. For example, remember the days of less stress and more personal interaction, when there were no online messages, no emails, social media or cell phones. We have become excessively dependent on technology. As a result, we need to rely less on technology even though it has made learning fun, and business, daily tasks, work, travel, shopping, making new friends and staying in touch easier. Though modern technology indeed facilitates people’s tasks and duties, it may weaken human bodies, ruin nature, and destroy good values regarding social communication. I believe in technology, I completely support it, but only to an extent. I say go ahead and enjoy what technology has to offer, learn about the world we live in, entertain yourself and consume in it. Just until it doesn’t affect your appearance or the people around you and especially the person in you. Think about it like this, we as humans made machines we can’t let machines make us who we are.
Technology has its advantages as well as its disadvantages, some of the advantages are that it makes connecting to people much easier, simpler and in addition, it makes our everyday life simpler in ways people 50 years ago never imagined it would. Not only that, it makes life much more fun and convenient. Now, tackling disadvantages, technology has led us humans into creating weapons of mass destruction and turned us into mindless irresponsible creatures who depend on machines to build everything and get everything for us, forgetting the consequences of health issues such that affect us personally and the ecosystem as a whole. Like everything out there, needless to say, technology has advantages and disadvantages, and we shouldn't forget that the advantages overshadow the disadvantages.
