How Managers Achieve Success in Today's Business World In today’s business world, how do managers achieve success? In the
past, managers’ main managerial activities are decision making,
planning and controlling. They exchange the routine information and
process paperwork between different departments; motivate and
discipline their employees. People are graded by their technical
skills and productivity. However, when looking at Fred Luthans’s
research, we will find out that among successful managers, networking
makes the largest relative contribution to success. Managers pay more
attention on socializing, politicking and interacting with outsiders.
They manage a group of people, study how people react to the situation
rather than whether they respond. They are beginning to learn people’s
behavior and take it as an essential tool for managing effective
teams. That is organization behavior.
Organization behavior (OB) is a field of study that investig...

First, I believe a leader needs to feed his/her people and let them grow. The leader must have an interest in what happens in the lives of people and have genuine interest in the individual employees: who they are and what they want. Ethics should be the bed from which you operate, first you have to give respect , in order to get it. High-quality management of people leads to longer employment , which leads to confidence , which leads to more work. A leader should thus provide a pleasant and friendly environment. I believe that the more fun you can make it for your employees to work, the more profit you will make. The real challenge is the willingness to bet on the long run and not get carried away by short-term pressure.

In the twenty first century, leaders are required to build a greater impression in which people believe in strategy, trust in management decisions, and trust in their work. Once people believe in management choice, there will be enthusiasm inside an organisation. Such an environment helps the organisation growing or flourish. A doing well leaders create a surroundings in cooperation inside and outside the organisation. (Subir chowdbhury management, 21c financial times prentice hall (2000)
Robbins (1997) defines managers as those who are all oversee the activities of other people with the purpose of accomplishing organizational goals. Therefore, in order to provide organizations with the best outcome, effective managers are urgently needed for modern organization. This is simply because, according to Hunsaker (2001), that the increasing recognition is given to the importance of having managers with strong interpersonal skills rather than, that twenty years ago, managers were only valued primarily for their technical know-how.
As a conclusion being a manager who has all the knowledge and skills not only to motivate but also keep the motivated and professional staff work for him will make the organization excel.
