Greek mythology is often looked at as something fake. It is seen as trivial information, but what people don’t know is that Greek mythology is in our everyday life. Even though the Greek myths may not have any impact on our culture or society, they are there hidden in our society and culture. Thousands of companies, corporations, high schools, colleges, and professionals such as Titans, Spartans, and Trojan got their names, logos, or themes after the gods and even English words named after them. For example, the Nike sneakers got their name from the Greek sprite Nike who was the goddess of victory in battle. Another example is that Pandora that we all know as a jewelry mark and a music site both come from the Greek mythology, which means all gifted.
If there is one subject that is still widely taught today, it has to be the subject of ancient Greek mythology. It isn’t just taught as part of a literature curriculum at school but is also part of most history lessons. Some people might wonder why the world is still so hung up on ancient Greek myths when they are nothing but stories and they came from thousands of years ago. For sure, these stories may have been written hundreds if not thousands of years ago, but people have to remember that they were written by wise men who had a hand in helping shape modern thinking. These great men such as Aristotle and Sophocles were not mere story-tellers; they didn’t spend their days weaving tales just because they wanted to, they were too good for that and this is why their Greek myths have survived the test of time and are still relevant until now.
