How Global Warming Affects Humans

The sky is falling, the sky is falling! Growing up I heard this phrase in folktales as a “wolf cry”, which is a cry that is so ridiculous that nobody would believe it. Now that global warming is a major environmental issue, the saying does not sound so farfetched. Most individuals would say: what is global warming? That question was running through my mind as I watched Al Gore’s documentary “An Inconvenient Truth”. This film is about the causes of global warming and its effects on our planet. Global warming will cause all of the landmarks as we know them to be inaccessible and the lay of the land will no longer look the same. This problem can be solved if we work on what is causing this situation to occur before it is too late.
All of the coastal areas will be threatened by hurricanes if we do not correct what we have done to the environment. All of the petroleum that is harvested from the ocean floor and is then used in the automobiles has polluted the atmosphere and now the sky is no longer clear. Investors in big corporations are now forcing that companies disclose whether they have funds for future climate changes. Lynch writes “It's not just power companies that are agitating for action. Institutional investors are demanding that companies disclose their financial exposure to future climate changes. Insurers are abandoning underwriting in coastal areas threatened by costly Hurricane Katrina clones, and companies such as General Electric and DuPont are gearing up to prosper from the transition to a carbon-constrained world. Last year, Goldman Sachs Chairman Henry Paulson, now Treasury secretary-designate, warned that the time needed to address climate change was running out.” (Lynch, 2006) Insurance companies are n...

... eliminate the greenhouse effect so that we can have a comfortable environment. If something is done about climate change now, then the future generations will be able to enjoy the benefits of living on the planet Earth and the “wolf cry” will only be found in folktales.
