“Fashion throughout each decade presents a particular lifestyle”
Throughout each decade particular lifestyles have influenced the styles of fashion in many different aspects. History throughout each decade being a period of 10 years, has had certain lifestyles, referring to the way of life and the way an individual lives and these lifestyles throughout these years have influenced the fashion, fashion being a trend of either clothing, personal appearance and behaviour. Many life events or Historical events from the years 1960 to 2000’s have had reactions from the fashion industry; certain decades in particular lifestyles had either rebellion or a positive reaction. In 1960 there was a rebellion from young adults as well as women which influenced the fashion of that decade, in which fashion was similar to the 1970s fashion however 1970 was known as the disco age. Whereas the 1980 was a decade of entertainment in all forms which influenced mostly teenagers in their style of fashion. However the 1980s entertainment impact on teenagers carried on in the 1990 and 2000s although fashion focused more on the impact of music rather than all forms of entertainment, these decades were eras of grunge music and heavy metal. Therefore fashion became and becomes the portrayal of the lifestyle in a particular period of time or history.

...In the 2000s fashion was still influenced by entertainment, although fashion and entertainment both became and still is more about luxury. Fashion became branded “luxury fashion brands” (Okonkwo, U. 2007:44). The styles have carried on over the years, many people still wear gothic, grunge, hippie clothes, but at a more expensive price because it is now branded clothing, “the globalisation of fashion”( Okonkwo,U, U. 2007:43).
Therefore fashion became and becomes the portrayal of the lifestyle in a particular period of time or history. Fashion from the 1960s to 2000s have evolved with history, from protests to entertainment and is seen to carry on throughout the years, fashion in those particular decades have been noticed to some back in different shapes and forms due to their huge impact throughout history however has now become more expensive due to their branding.
In the 1960?s, society was changing by the minute and fashion was ?anything goes?. In the early sixties, Jackie Kennedy influenced fashion with her elegant, stylish outfits and her trademark pillbox hat. In the late sixties, the ?mod look? was popularized by go-go boots and mini-skirts, while bellbottom jeans, tie-dye shirts, long skirts and peasant dresses were worn by the hippie culture. Glance through any fashion catalog or magazine in the nineties and you will see models wearing the same fashions popularized in the late sixties. The advancement from conservative to liberal thinking, eventually resulted in revolutionary changes in cultural fabric of American life. The 60s was a decade of sweeping change throughout the fashion world. Previously, fashion was aimed at mainly the wealthy and the mature elites, but as the decade began to unfold, the tastes and preferences of the youngsters became important. Parisian designers dominated the beginning of the decade with their outstanding ability to implement their own ideas into their clothing.
The evolution of clothing has been drastically changed through the course of history, from the style to how they’re made. Women and men’s clothing changed at different rates. The way clothes are made reflect the style. Clothing always has been an important aspect of one’s culture as well as a representation of a time period. Overtime clothing has changed just as the people it clothes.
A Single Youth Culture Youth culture and youth subcultures have been a subject of research since the early 1930s. It is most certainly true today that there is not one singular youth culture but a variety of different youth subcultures. The 90's can not be described as the same as the 60's or 70's or even the 80's. There are many reasons put forward by sociologists for this such as there are more styles available today, media influences us more and there is a higher disposable income per household to spend on fashions. This paper will explore the reasons behind the existence of youth cultures in previous years and why the same format has not occured in the 1990's.
Have you ever looked at a picture of your parents when they were your age? Or maybe your grandparents from way back when? Well, judging by how much we laugh at their goofy clothes and ridiculous shoes, not to mention the hilarious hairstyles, styles have changed a lot. We?ve gone from high waists to low waists, baggy shirts to shirts that could fit your little sister, from bellbottoms to skin-tight jeans, and from voluminous hair to straight and silky locks. Yes, style can change a lot in a few decades and if you think that's a lot of change, try going back a few centuries, to the times of Shakespeare!

George Simmel was born in Germany in 1858 and emerged as one of the major theorists of the turn of the century (?,?). His writings on philosophy and social sciences included one of the only insights, at the time, into the structure of fashion in society, Fashion, 1904. In this text he expressed his thoughts on society in relation to fashion and style, examining societal groups and how they used fashion as a form of segregation. He referred to the elite class as trend setters, differentiating themselves by creating new fashions, and lower classes as the mimics, in an effort to associate themselves with an elite identity. This cycle brought many different fashions over the 20th century and was described as the trickle-down effect. Although Simmels theory depicts various characteristics still currently valid there are aspects that no longer play a role in the transformation of fashion.

Many people would not believe that there are so many similarities between modern day fashion and the fashion of the renaissance time period. Many differences may be seen between the two, but the similarities are remarkable. Throughout all of time, clothing has been the major representation of social classes. What people wear has always been the distinguishing factor between the wealthy and the poor classes of both the renaissance and current time period. The evolution from time period to time period has been vast, but the fact that what people wear represents what class they reside in is still very prevalent. Fashion in the 21st century is a big business, as its production employs millions of people and generates billions of dollars in revenue. Fashion has for the past century been, and is still today, used as an indicator of social change and progress, as it changes with the social norms of the society and the political changes of the world (Finkelstein 3). Fashion, psychology and the sociological perspective have long been perceived as mutually exclusive concepts. However, is there a possibility that a trinity exists in the former? To illustrate, it is evident that throughout history fashion has influenced society as a whole and has mirrored its aspects i.e. economical and sociological. Furthermore, this influence has developed to be perceived psychologically where individuals identify with fashion in the sense of translating visual information showing their personal views and attitudes. Every generation has their own style; something that sets them apart from the previous generations. So why does our generation choose to wear the clothing that they do? Of course we don't want to dress like our parents, but there are other factors involved in developing the style of a generation.
In conclusion, fashion will speak out a person’s social signal, people dress on designs that blend with their social class. Just as population, social activities and fashion are changing with time. Fashion has made clothing to be convinient, everything needs to be done with the least effort and spend the least time.
To live in style with fashion is mostly preferred by college going youngsters who are the main follower of fashion. Fashion is related with all age of people either male or female in different manners. Mostly girls fashion is too much trendy and advance then any others. Fashion is not only limited to dressing style but it includes all other different aspects of life like the house they live in, what they eat, what kind of work they prefer to do for their time pass and many more.
